Ahhh... the good 'ol days, when Ottawa developers took pride in the architecture of their buildings.

I hope that will be saved, rocketphish.

Are those good condos to be in?

Between Westboro and west Centretown what are some of the better ones?

When these places were built, I'd say yes.

Auxtown bought into Mondrian when it was built, I'd ask him.

Also, Westboro is a way more interesting and vibrant area to be in than West Centretown.

West Centretown is an area I find a bit sterile and boring, even if it is closer to areas that aren't like Elgin St. and the Rideau/Market district.

I love these made up names

Aylmer's main street is salivating.

It's definitely a more residential pocket, but it is 4 blocks from Elgin, and there is a burgeoning strip on Somerset west of Kent/Bay that isn't particularly sterile. There are also some good restaurants in the immediate vicinity, like North and Navy. I'd say the location of these buildings is pretty solid.

What's a made-up name here, and why would Aylmer's main street need one?

Having lived in Mondrian for a number of years and my brother in the heart of Westboro for about the same, I can tell you that Centretown is WAY more vibrant than Westboro. Yes, it has a relatively trendy and popular retail strip from 9-5 but in the evenings Westboro is pretty much boarded up.

My friend is in Hudson Park and it is still really nice, holding up well for it's age.

Side note, I visited a patient in the assisted living floor of Vista on Sparks today. Holy crap is that place fancy! They have a spectacular view of the river, Gatineau skyline and Lebreton. Ammenities are top notch (dining, library, meeting rooms, etc.). Not a bad place to live out your days if you can afford it

With the way things are developing in Ottawa, I'd be looking to purchase an older unit in the west end of Centretown such as The Gardens or The Pinnacle. Tended to be nicer quality builds, more sqft and most units well taken care of. With all the highrises in this area there is sure to be more foot traffic, nice restaurants and other services coming soon.

I've been a lazy layabout.

I have an entire stack of lovely photos to make another chapter of my "Running total of my favorite buildings" thread.

They might be 2022. I'll get to it. I promise.

*edit* Speaking of 2022... Harls... Your new avatar would have been a bit peculiar at that time haha.

Thx for all of this!

Are you referring to my Mysterious Man from Dos Equis one, or the wincing Alarmforce guy? I don't think I've changed that much from those 3.
