Apparently, Davies was a decoy.

Whether or not that paid off in our favour, it's irrelevant at this point. We're facing South Africa on Sunday, in LA!

Never thought I'd see us make it out of the Group stage, never mind win a game. Whatever happens on Sunday, we all should be proud!

Save him for the round of 32.
Win the group, stay close to base camp, and keep home field advantage. A whole lot to play for. We got lucky S Korea imploded.

Yeah but now Netherlands away is the next stage prize.

With Korea out ticket prices are plummetting. Lots of neutrals I guess but likely a huge Canadian contingent from SoCal and probably a decent turnout from Canada too. It'll probably be almost cheaper than a Vancouver game even with flights and Hotels from Vancouver let alone the rest of the country.

Alphonse Davies has 13.5 millions reasons (22 million with bonus) to sit out, and avoid playing in the World Cup for Canada so he will not get hurt. If one were to look at it from a economic standpoint, it would make complete sense.

However, this is why people hold hockey players in such high regard, and not soccer players. There is a reason it is often said that the Uruguay National Rugby team members survived, when the football/soccer team would have died within days, when they were in that plane crash in the 70s.

This is called "PR."

Better than the coach give some bullshit reason for Davies not wanting to play,

So looks like we play South Africa on Sunday in LA. I would put money on Davies playing that game.

So would I.

Despite my earlier protestations, I have been watching a fair bit of the tournament. It is entertaining television, and you can appreciate the skill level of the players.

It helps that Donald Trump has not been seen anywhere near any of the stadia, and he may keep his distance given the savage nature of the chants being used by the Australian, Scottish and English fans.

As would I.

It's now or never and I believe that we were just providing him extra time on the assumption that we would now be in a position/game to call on him.

Maybe FIFA will award him a second peace prize in response to the Iran debacle.

I think Canada can beat South Africa with or without Davies, but if we make it past them and Davies isn’t available to take on the winner of Morocco/Netherlands…that would be some serious BS!

South Africa is beatable, but as is often the case in Fifa matches, the better team loses. Would be great if we could make it to the next round. It would be most likely a loss, but still fun.

Davies was supposed to play against Qatar and Switzerland. I will believe it when I actually see him on the pitch.

On a related note, FC Bayern just signed a star player at Davies position, for the same amount of money. I'm starting to believe that Davies career is coming to an end, especially if the team doctors of Bayern Munich know something that we do not.

Bon, you guys want to see nice goals by the team with the best attacking sector?

Video Link

Can you see the recap in your countries? Idk, depends on their copyrights.

7:24 What a bunch of dummies.
Misunderstanding, confusion. The Iraqi goalkeeper didn't expect that pass at all.
Needless to say, Ousmane would steal the ball for an easy assist to Mbappé. Silly goal.

All others are neat goals. I'm proud of our team.
Our defense is our weakness, but damn, France is entertaining. She plays to score goals, not to defend.

Did you see Norway would align their B team on game 3, just because they were through already?
They don't want to take any risk of injury or fatigue, so they spared their best players.
Well, Ousmane punished them!

^ That's what I thought. It's probably not the French channel itself, they'd love to be seen and heard abroad.
It must be FIFA and their annoying copyrights and related rules.
It is FIFA money.

Bon... You all will be able to see Canada tonight. Or this afternoon in your country.
I'm not even sure your national team can beat South Africa.
They're playing away in LA, not before the Canadian crowds...
We're going to see.
