LFP article on the progress on the Casino remodel project.

The London casino – it will be called Cascades Casino when it is fully open – is adding 2,040 square metres (22,000 square feet) to create a total of 7,400 square metres (80 square feet) of floor space filled with four-metre high slot machines and tables offering several different games.

'The gaming floor will include table games including Blackjack, roulette, baccarat, poker and sic bo, a popular Asian dice game. There also will be electronic table games including craps.'

Guess no real craps table then. Nearby casinos like Brantford and Fallsview got rid of their craps tables after the pandemic as well. Takes too much staff to man them, but the digital ones are just not the same in terms of excitement/fun, at least to me.

Caesars Windsor still has several real craps tables however, last I checked they had 4, plus two 'crapless' craps tables, which is a variant. Their minimums have gone up post-pandemic however, so was hoping London might have a cheaper one to play at. Guess not.

A depressing place will get larger. Zombies in front of machines.

The bar which was in the restaurant has moved to the player reward desks- at least for now.

The raceway concourse is completely blocked off on the first floor. I would assume this is for some more casino expansion or renno work... not sure.

Yuck Yuck's former location is now the new area where you can watch/bet on the horse races. The brick wall where the comedians did stand up now has a cluster of tvs that just seems so stange and sad. I assume this is the temporary home of the horsies until the grandstand area is done? I dunno.

The casino itself was mostly the same as I remember it. Very tight, very busy. I managed to have a little luck on my side and ran away with about 50 bucks profit without giving it back. But on the fast payout casino website I consistently earn more than a hundred dollars.

I assume once some new areas open they'll renno and reorganize the existing area. It certainly needs a refresh to me... but I think the regulars are too fixated on the machines to care about the vibe.
The Yuck Yuck’s transformation into a horse race viewing area does sound like a bit of a mood shift—comedy to clusters of TVs is definitely a vibe change. I can see how that might feel a little sad, especially if you have fond memories of the old setup. Hopefully, the grandstand area will bring back some of that energy once it’s done.

Ya I think the former Yuk Yuks is a temporary location for horse racing bets

I recently went to the OLG slots again for a friend's birthday. Right now in their renno, there's no A-C and the place is RANK. They have a few high powered fans to move some air but ya not very comfortable.

Not much to report on the renno since I was there last- looked mostly the same. Only thing I noticed is that the old bathrooms for the restaurant have been modified / redone and are now accessible as part of the main casino.

For any Blackjack player, minimums are $25 all the time now it seems- a bit high BUT they still pay 3-2 for a blackjack, a big benefit to the player as other nearby casinos like Caesars Windsor and Fallsview are starting to pay 6-5 instead. It doesn't sound too bad, but that change massively increases the house edge. London seems like the place to play that game.

New restaurant 'outside' the casino opens. You can bring ppl under 19 here and there's a kids menu.

If you're just going to watch the horsies, there was terrible food offered beforehand- now you might have a legit place to get some grub. Having it kid friendly is a perk, especially if you can perhaps use any casino food offers for them.

Ribbon cutting after 27 months of renovations at the Western Fair District Casino.

An official red ribbon opening is still a few weeks away, but a $50 million project to create Cascades Casino at Western Fair District is largely finished.

The casinonification of Ontario continues unabated. Meanwhile, the emergency waiting rooms are at standstill. Thanks, DoFo!

I am so sick and tired of Betty Casino, MGM Casino, Fallview Casino, etc. ads on my phone. Gambling is a tax on the mathematically-challenged, but where does the money raised actually go? And where has all the money gone that the legalization of weed was supposed to generate?
