This is the saddest day in my 50 years of watching the NHL. Started watching religously in 1976.

2 hours ago...This... Tradition gone: 'Hockey Night in Canada' NHL broadcasts won't return to CBC next fall

I don't have (and refuse to pay for) a Sports Cable Package. My hockey viewing days are over. What is happening! Today, life is only about money, sad, very sad.

Will they still have the Monday night game on Prime next year? It's not free, but people are more likely to have it at least compared to Sportsnet.

As an out-of-market Sens fan, I've already sold the rights to my first born child to Rogers.

Remember what happened last year? Rogers increased the annual price of the Sportsnet+ Premium streaming package by 30% from $249.99 to $324.99 (plus tax). The Standard annual package also saw a 25% hike, increasing from $199.99 to $249.99.

Assholification.

In other news, I hear that Rogers is in negotiations to rename the city of Toronto to "Toronto, brought to you by Rogers"

If you search around, free streams are usually there. There are ads and popups to deal with, but it is possible.

Philadelphia in the 2nd round was an absolute joke and only possible because of the stupid division format.

Maybe they lose a game or 2 and their rest is only 5-6 days instead almost an unfair 2 weeks.

ECF and SCF, the difference in rest was noticeable in the last games of those series.

They benefited from playing in a weaker division. They actually had a thougher 1st round but Ottawa was missing 3 of their top 6 D-man including Sanderson. Maybe they still win the Cup but this team is not as dominant as their 16-3 record would indicate.

Leafs hiring Jim Hiller is hilarious. To date the only coach i have seen DIRECTLY costing his team the series.

They are entering a dark period the league has rarely seen.

Chayka is a clown, Hiller is absolutely awful, Matthews best days seem to be behind him, Nylander is 30 already so by the time they are competitive again, he would be retired and they have no 1st round picks in 2027 AND 2028.

Just too bad they didn't trade those picks out West. Instead, Philadelphia and Boston would have them.

100% agree with everyone. I’m done with cable almost solely to watch sports, specifically hockey. There’s no way I’m tuning in to sportsnet, especially if they want me to pay them. F that.

These types of moves are doing the exact opposite of what the league should be doing, which is to grow the game, seek new interest, especially in a time where there are so many other sporting options. F them.

Also, while I wish I could jump on the. Lue Jays bandwagon, the simple fact that Roger’s owns that team there is no way I will cheer for them, even if they’re 1 out away from a World Series. F you Rogers

This is why they should do a rebuild. Trade almost everyone and amass a crap-ton of draft picks. They're gonna suck for a bunch of seasons, but that's fine - they were always gonna suck so you may as well get rewarded with draft picks for it.

And you can make fun of Chayka and Hiller all you want - but all these so-called "winners" who have proven track records of winning the cup didn't do squat in Toronto. So you can't judge future performance on the past for GMs and coaching apparently.

Yeah, I don't think Hiller is necessarily a bad hire, and there definitely could have been much worse "fan popular" hires they could have made, like Cassidy, for example.

I also think Raddysh's contract with the Leafs seems good. People are blown away by the 8 years, but it is pretty clearly structured as a cap management tool and provided the Leafs get four or five good years out of him, they have done pretty well with it.

Chayka's doing okay so far, imo.
