Major news for Ingersoll with announcement of new subdivision in the SE corner of the town.

The project includes a new $37 million multi-use centre, a seniors care community, a public school, future housing, and open space. The cost to service the land is $52 million. Infrastructure and Development Director, Matt Sweetland, says there’s been no project quite like it in Ingersoll.

A medium sized industrial building is going up in Strathroy along the 402 highway. Most of the structural steel is now installed and the building has a tall center section with a one story side section. Not sure what business is going in or expanding.

With the fire of the Rona in Grand Bend its possible that site might be redeveloped as something else. Mixed-use residential or retail. I suspect if Rona returns to Grand Bend they will look for a larger property.

Grand Bend Rona store fire damage at $10M. I suspect if they reopen they will look for another larger site in the town and sell off the former store site.

Major $28M Queens Park funding in a new wastewater treatment facility in Sheddon sets up for future 2400 homes growth.

About 35 people attended a groundbreaking ceremony Tuesday at the site of a wastewater treatment plant being built in Shedden, a small community in the Township of Southwold, an Elgin County municipality with a population of roughly 5,000 located about 15 kilometres west of St. Thomas.

New $100M steel plate factory in Ingersoll opens.

Steel giant ArcelorMittal Tailored Blanks has begun production at its $100-million, state-of-the-art steel plant in Ingersoll, giving an important boost to the southwestern Ontario town as it grapples with turmoil in the electric-vehicle sector and the trade war between Canada and the United States.
