Snapped this picture yesterday. They seem to be removing the climbing form. Does that have to do with the crane swap BlueJay mentioned?

Cladding is looking great! I was worried that it would look too different from the other two towers but, from a distance, it's hard to tell the difference. The true clump buster coming into its final form!

Those forms are being replaced with different fly forms that will be used for the remainder of the tower after the pool floor is poured. With the removal of the forms, that is allowing the pre cast install to complete the hotel portion in the meantime. Crane swap is still happening at the end of May.

Will the hotel portion open before the construction of the higher floors is finished?

Thanks for the insight. Much appreciated!

Yes, the hotel will open before the apartment portion is completed.

Thanks - that's interesting. It looks like it is getting close, though I'm guessing that the technical issues only get bigger with a hotel operating on the site.

Hey BlueJay.

I got curious about this the other day. Where do we usually acquire our exterior building materials from on an average highrise build. Windows.. cladding... balcony rails etc.

I'm wondering specifically in this case is the pre-cast panels on this project are made locally. I saw a flat bed with a pair (holy crap they are big) and it was coming in from the east on the 417 so got me wondering if it maybe comes from Montreal.

But just some general information on what our local manufacturing capacity is would be interesting to know.

She's at 16 complete, working on 17. That's our double height floor with the pool and sauna (which were poured a few weeks back and take up space on 16).

must've been the same day, I saw a load come off the 417 on Bronson and i instantly knew it was for this project. best guess the fabrication is definitely happening in Quebec, the materials could be sourced elsewhere who knows.

And the footprint of this one is massive as well. It will be an imposing structure all around.

Looking forward to seeing the 17th floor complete.

Many, many years ago I worked at a company in Brampton called "Sota Glazing" who made curtainwall windows and panels that were shipped all over the world.

For this project, the precast is from Alma Quebec. Ottawa has a precast supplier however, they are a much smaller operation and have a difficult time competing with the other out of town and out of province options.

As for the glass on this project, it is all manufactured in Quebec as well including the balcony rails and glass which is usually sourced from China. That is why we see a lot of 'cheap looking' balcony rail systems here. This project will have balcony rail and glass system that has not been seen here before so that is a major positive to this project since it is produced in Canada.

Metal panels are also usually sourced from China but there are options in the GTA as well but money talks. Unfortunately, Ottawa does not have a manufacturing sector when it comes to supplying the development industry.

That kind of falls in line with what I might have guessed. Thanks.

That's weird. I copied the images from the Skyrise website where I posted them first. I've had this issue before where people couldn't see my posts from Discord, but not Skyrise.
