Ottawa (not the City of course, but the NCC) finally does something cool and Quebec City has to beat us at it .

Shameless double post to bump this thread.

Like I said in the other thread, cruise ships tend to look much nicer when they are not painted white. These Holland America ships, along with the Disney cruise ships, and a few other firms have cruise ships that look superficially similar to ocean liners of the past… on in the case of the Queen Mary, is an actual ocean liner.

The Queen Marry hasn’t visited Port Saint John in a long time, but I was in Halifax when both the Queen Marry and QEII were making one last visit together to Halifax.

To be exact, it gets brackish right at the eastern tip of Ile D’Orléans.

According to AI: Quebec City is heavily influenced by the ocean's tides, experiencing a tidal range of about 4 to 5 meters.

I had no idea it was that extreme.

From Inside Quebec City "The tidal range at Quebec City ( approximately 4-6 metres depending on the lunar cycle (spring tides at the full and new moon reaching the maximum range, neap tides at the quarter moons reaching the minimum) ) is larger than at any inland point on the St. Lawrence and reflects the funnel geometry of the estuary that amplifies the Atlantic Ocean’s tidal signal as it propagates upstream."

It was impressive to see these two boats wizzing down the harbour with all aboard standing with rifles up at their chests. Most were wearing military fatigues.

Very cool! Toronto’s new electric ferries are supposed to come online next spring. Much bigger but also probably cover a much shorter distance!

Thanks for sharing. I had never heard of Wasagaming, MB before.

Canada's national park townsites are touristy, but in a classy, understated way. No garish signage or ugly, oversized commercial buildings. They also do a good job hiding parking and car infrastructure out of the way behind trees and landscaping.
