Losing Nurse is a boon for the Oilers, dude is an overpaid pylon for sure. However, having one of your top Dmen announce publicly that he wants a trade is bad mojo for the team, especially on the heels of all the Babcock stuff.

Oilers will either have to retain a big chunk or give a 1st rounder to get rid of Nurse. Just way too overpaid and way too many years left.

Kent Hughes was his agent when he signed that contract, apologies Oilers fans

'top... Dmen....'

We tried to trade him last summer, he invoked his no trade clause and so this year we said 'your way or ours, your choice'.

It's time.

Agree about the general sentiment for Nurse. I'd be happy to see him leave, it's only a matter of who would be willing to take him. That's been the issue all along.

Basically, if you have a goalie and capable pairing, he can be ok, but he's just all over the place and nowhere at all far too often.

Great speed and decent shot, but out of place.

Congrats to the Canes!! So happy it wasn’t Vegas winning this year. As a Jets fan I couldn’t help but smile watching Ehlers lift that cup. Hometown ‘Peg boy Jarvis was pretty cool to watch too.

The best overall team, that consistently plays as a team and for the team wins.

Congrats to the Canes and Rod.

Oilers - maybe study this organization.

The right team won the cup. The Golden Knights were definitely outplayed.

I was kinda going for the Knights though. Barbasheve played with the Moncton Wildcats for several years, usually on a line with Conor Garland. Barbashev however already has two Stanley Cups, so I guess he can't be too greedy.

Well deserved win by the Carolina. They were the best team from start to finish. Nice to see Brindamour win as a player and a coach.

The hurricanes went 16-3 in the playoffs, that's a hell of a feat!

Congratulations to Carolina. Taylor Hall with a Stanley Cup winning goal and just a very solid team effort. 16-3 is ridiculous. Only the 87-88 Oilers had fewer with a 16-2 run and given the quality of the teams these days it was a run for the ages.

If we are honest, Carolina benefited from a weaker path to the Cup. The rest they had was just an insane advantage. So the 16-3 is nice, but they won't be put on a list of best Cup winners (unless they repeat). Even though they went 16-7, last year's Panthers (or 2024) are a better championship team.

With that being said, it's a well deserved Cup. Very structured and well coached team. They made the best out of the circumstances and made quick work of their opponents weak or not. Finally got the goaltending that has often failed them with Bussi winning the last 3 games.

This sort of speculation is pointless and ridiculous. A weaker Carolina that struggled in all these series would somehow be the better champion by your logic? I get where Carolina fans are coming from when they complain about people shitting on their success. Carolina is somehow never good to certain hockey fans, it's always their opponents who are weak.

Carolina were deserved champions and dominant in these playoffs. Hats off to them.

You might like the interview with him after the win.

As usual, Marner disappeared when he was needed most. A single secondary assist in the final 3 games, and instead of blocking an empty net goal - he actually jumped out of the way to avoid getting hit. That's the Marner we all know.

.
Easier path because they got rest because they went 16-3 which allowed them to get rest and have an easier path?

No more "free" over the air Hockey Night In Canada. CBC will no longer be a sub-partner of Rogers, so if you want the games, you gotta pay or pirate.

Torts also not returning to Vegas, who are widely expected to promote their AHL coach. Wonder how long Vegas is going to hold Cassidy hostage now, and will it be Torts and Cassidy going to TOR and EDM (and in which order) leaving Babs out in the cold again? Or are either team going to bring in new NHL blood?
