A new multi-unit building with a Shoppers Drug Mart is proposed near Fanshawe Park Road and Hyde Park Road on an empty lot by the KFC / Taco Bell building.

The new No Frills is now open in the new plaza in Kilworth. Still working on the new Shoppers and other units in the plaza. Will be interesting to see the impact of the new No Frills on the Foodland in Komoka.

They have been working on a new gas bar and car wash on the SE corner of Highway 4 and Saintsbury in Lucan for most of this past winter. The buildings are now up and they are working on exterior and interior finishing. Have started to pour the gas tank and pump concrete pads. Still have more concrete to pour for the entrance and exit thru the car wash and the sidewalk in front of the gas bar. Will be curious to see if they install a couple of EV chargers along the parking area of this site.

Building permits dip in both number and value to start 2026 compared to 2025 which was also lower then the prior year.

Interesting news with Summit Properties demolishing the parking structure for their apartment building at 700 Horizon apartment at the NE corner of Horizon and Farrah near the Costco. Why they are removing the parking garage is unknown. Maybe structural problems and they plan to rebuild it? Or maybe they want to make room for another building?

Signage for the new MacEwen gas bar and car wash has started going up in Lucan. Concrete curbing has now been installed so the paving contractor is likely going to install the pavement soon.

Structural steel has been going up for an industrial building on 2070 JetStream Rd which is just west of the VMP between Oxford and Huron.

Drewlo announces plans to build up to 2000 apartment units on former rail site in downtown St Thomas.

"Drewlo Holdings, a real estate and property management company that owns and manages more than 10,600 units in six Southwestern Ontario cities, is proposing to build six apartment buildings with between 1,800 and 2,000 rental units on eight hectares (20 acres) of a former rail terminal site at Wilson Avenue and Elm Street in east St. Thomas, according to Drewlo planner Carrie O’Brien."

Muslim Association of Canada Noor Gardens finally being built on the site of the old Wally World. I'm pretty sure I first heard of this about 15 years ago or so. From the artists concepts from back then, it will look pretty nice when finally finished.

The new MacEwen gas bar and car wash in Lucan has been getting the pavement installed this week. The gas pumps went in last week and the car wash doors have been installed. This is getting closer to opening. Still have the landscaping to install but that might go in after the pumps and store open.

Sifton is working on plans to redevelop Berkshire Village.

Verrette was inside the meeting and told CTV News Sifton announced a site demolition, slated to begin in spring of next year.

“There are approximately five strips of townhouses that are going to be removed,” said Verrette. “There’s going to be a single apartment building where I am located now, one across from me and then five in the back area where that field is.”

Looks like something failed as they had to cut out the concrete cap over the underground gas tanks in the parking lot of the under construction new MacEwen gas station and car wash in Lucan. They had just poured that concrete a few weeks ago and have had to dig it out. They paved the parking lot earlier this week and installed the gas price sign.

After digging out the concrete pad over the underground gas tanks last week they have now re-poured the concrete pad. They have also now installed sod and plantings for the landscaping facing the street. Delivery trucks have also been bringing in products for the gas bar store. The new MacEwen Gas Bar in Lucan is very close to opening day now.
