It is surprising that KWC doesn't have its own subforum on SSP. It once did, and it was fairly active (back about a dozen years ago).

The Ontario Land Tribunal has approved a developer’s plan for a 19-storey tower at the edge of a Kitchener heritage conservation district.

The decision helps pave the way for the redevelopment of a property at 22 Weber St. W., near Queen Street North. The site is currently a surface parking lot.

Another major affordable housing redevelopment in Waterloo Region is being delayed, as rising construction costs and financial uncertainty force regional councillors to once again put plans on hold, even as the waitlist for affordable housing reaches high levels.

Regional council voted to postpone the redevelopment of 15-105 Mooregate Crescent in Kitchener, a project expected to cost $298.7 million and deliver 378 units.

Mayor says council, staff were unaware of 40-storey tower application before heritage vote
Cambridge Mayor Jan Liggett says neither councillors nor city staff knew a developer was preparing an application for what could become the city’s tallest building when council voted in March against designating a 19th-century Preston property on King Street

Waterloo today is very different from when this thread started. The region has seen significant growth around the ION LRT corridor, with Uptown Waterloo and other transit-oriented areas attracting major residential and mixed-use development. A dedicated subforum would probably see much more activity now than it did years ago.

Committee approves plans for 57s and 51s buildings.

The project would be located at 50 Borden Avenue, an industrial area of the city between the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium and the Rockway golf course.
