Wonder if it’ll eventually go year-round, even if only weekly which would possibly make it easier for Sunwing aircraft rotation in winter.

It's funny however Québec City Area is probably the least separatist French-speaking-majority region of the province along with voting Conservative both at the Federal and Provincial level (the latter according to projections). So we do share some values but no, the majority of YQB area isn't separatist

How were the rotations of WestJet planes done last winter with YQB?

I was indeed making a joke.

It's good to see improved Canadian connectivity for YQB.

I remain perplexed that there is no direct flight from YQB to YQM. There are probably about 75,000 francophones in southeastern NB, and Moncton is the Acadian capital for the Maritimes. There should be lots of cultural connections there, and, Laval and UdeM are both important universities. Lots of potential for tourism traffic as well. I would really enjoy being able to take a weekend jaunt to Vieux Quebec and stay at the Chateau Frontenac without the hassle of the drive.

Considering no one's be able to figure out how to operate YQB-YHZ, I'm not surprised YQB-YQM isn't flown at present. As I recall in the 90s AC via Air Nova had a daily DH1 that did YQB-YQM-YHZ. Heck even YQB-YOW with over 400,000 francophones in the NCR currently only has 1 flight a day to YQB.

Flair flew YHZ - YQB for a season a couple of years ago but never brought it back the following year. Air Nova did fly it many years ago as well. It is amazing that no one fly's the route considering all the Québécois military personnel who are based in Halifax. Maybe Pal Aviation will fly it in the future if they start doing some of the regional routes that ACOA are going to financially support.

WS has cancelled Cuba indefinitely. Was originally expected to resume in late October.

Be curious where all that capacity goes. At peak it’s close to 100x weekly.

Looks like the new seasonal Winter Calgary YYC - São Paulo GRU Brazil - YYC will be will be Mid December 2026 to Mid February 2027 .
Yes last departure Calgary YYC - São Paulo GRU Brazil is February 14th & with the return on February 15th GRU - YYC .

Not too surprising as Mid February - WestJet needs the 787 plane ✈️ used on 3x weekly YYC - GRU - YYC (to do some Mexico flights from YYC) as from mid February onwards to end of March it is the start of Spring Break time + 1 week reading break for University / College students in Canada = demand for Mexico ✅.

Edelweiss’ Halifax–Zurich is now served on an Airbus A350-900. Parked next to Discover Airlines A330-300 Halifax-Frankfurt service.

Pacific Coastal are seasonally increasing YLW-YQQ to 2x daily (1x on day 6) and at the same time cutting service to Quesnel (YQZ), which only was added to the route network last October: https://www.aeroroutes.com/eng/260602-8pns26

YQZ will continue to see airline service with CMA.

They also had an article specifically about Halifax's new connections.

Surely ICN and/or FCO would've been much better bets no?

GRU advance bookings weren’t the problem. They were on par with the other winter long hauls. They even got better when they made onward connections bookable.

MDE had awful advance bookings so the two aren’t really comparable (other than being in SA).

I’m guessing ICN may get its resumption date moved up to early March.
