Delta; Maybe someone can help me remember what time period and where this was rumored (I feel somewhat certain I must have posted on it,) in any case, rumors that a long-haul international route of of Austin is being considered. Certainly not too surprising considering the build-up there.

Southwest Lounge above West Infill by 2027?

View from the Wing has done some really solid reporting on the AUS lounge situation over the years, and they've recently broken a story on an apparent change of plans for the new space above West Infill.

https://viewfromthewing.com/southwest-to...airport-may-add-two-credit-card-lounges/

As we all know, Southwest will ultimately vacate its presence in the closer-in Concourse A (i.e., current BJT) and take multiple gates in Concourse B...

...so having their lounge above the West Infill space is quite far from their future gates, but I wonder if a lounge space could be made available in the Concourse B design.

In the meantime, while Southwest has not made many details known about its lounges, it's fair to say that a ~20k SF lounge will be one of the premiere lounges in AUS for the foreseeable future.

Is it common for lounges to be in satellite concourses at other airports? I haven't used a lounge in years myself so I'm not up to date.

Yes. It is quite common - especially at larger airports.

Makes sense. These days I'm usually chasing one of the kids around so I don't have the luxury of relaxing before a flight....

Am I reading that right -- they think that Southwest is going to take most of the gates in the new terminal (as previously reported and we all know) and at the same time build their lounge above the west infill space in the old/main terminal (a long ass way from their gates)? That don't make no sense

Will Samsung's decision to relocate its US HQ to Plano have any effect on a possible AUS-ICN route?

I would think not - since the route was being discussed when Samsung's US HQ was in New Jersey.

Just curious.

With the amount of investment and active work happening in Austin (now and especially in the future), I think a route, even if not daily, here is relevant regardless of the HQ location.

Yes. There is space for a lounge in the Concourse B design. It's Lounge 3 in this diagram:

Nope. There will be "tunnel interfaces" on both ends where the tunnel connects to the concourses. It is where the stairs, escalators, and elevators are to enter the tunnel. That's where the lounges will be built.

Yup. I just had it in my mind that UA was going to take that spot for its relocated lounge.

That certainly makes sense for a WN lounge, but then UA finds itself in a similarly tough spot.

I bet they make room for a sort of mezzanine lounge mid-way down the length of the new Concourse B. I acknowledge that other airports have separation between lounges and gates, but it's a very attractive service to have them close together. One which I imagine all of DL, UA, and WN are thinking about with AA having made their commitment already.

I don't think most Austinites would think of a pig emoji for Texas BBQ but this website interprets this to mean Austin to CDG.

Even more Delta-Austin love

Delta Air Lines' Secret Weapon: The Fastest-Growing Focus City In 2026 [9 New Routes]
From Simple Flying [URL="https://simpleflying.com/delta-austin-growth/?user=bGFuZS5qb2huQGdtYWlsLmNvbQ&lctg=d6aa09fd933b36211eb305019cb051bba6768e87da2e6a7040a4e93b2c673386"]

US legacy carriers such as Delta Air Lines are built on a complex network of hubs that spread their capacity around the country. However, focus cities also play an important role in expanding an airline's footprint, as evidenced by Delta's recent growth at Austin–Bergstrom International Airport (AUS), where it has the airport's second-largest market share by flights.

According to Cirium, an aviation analytics company, Delta has scheduled 14% more seats from AUS this year than it did last year. This makes Austin the carrier's fastest-growing focus city, ahead of Raleigh–Durham International Airport (RDU) in North Carolina. It has also added nine new routes from AUS.
