The Norrie library was (IIRC) designed to reflect the housing that used to exist behind what is now Grant Park Shopping Center - known as Rooster Town. This food hall looks like it belongs at a winery or at rural market. As noted previously, the William Ave facade is bland has there is no relationship with the street or the area. Really weird to me. Why did they bother with a design competition?

Same architecture firm. The library space is beautiful inside, the open airy concept with the seating and fireplace at one end is very inviting.

Interesting. The market does look warm and inviting from the inside. And the path between the market and residences looks great. The issue is what they propose facing William, and that the market really does not seem to relate to the residential and studio buildings.

While I’m glad something is being constructed, it is surprising the food hall was not tied more closely architecturally to The Holiday Inn behind it…

A contiguous development would have added a little more continuity to the site.

With that said the proposal is visually warmer but I would note the large glass wall is on the east side while the south and west exposures do not take advantage of the sun. More natural sunlight from these exposures would add to a winter Winnipeg experience or a summer one for that matter.

How is this component of The Market Lands funded now and into the future?

I hope it can be utilized by RRC to expand their foot print.

looks very "Scandinavian" in design, I like but interesting how it fits in with creamy building behind. more "food court" options for residents & rrc students is great

has anyone been to Minneapolis "The Market at Malcom Yards" it's kind of like The Forks eatery area, but help yourself beer. You get a Card when arriving and all restaurants tap it, you tap to get your beer and then at end it goes on your CC. cool place

Do we have decent height marks or estimates for both ML buildings? Think I want to do some Google earth stuff like I used to, and/or at least get some drawings in the Winnipeg diagrams for them.

Really looking forward to your tower in particular TV

I’m looking forward to it as well. This CMHC becoming Build Canada Homes has stopped a lot of projects in their tracks. It’s disappointing.

Came across this proposal in Banff. Reminded me of the Market building but much cleaner. More sophisticated.

Is that for the space around the food hall thing? Or the roads around the site? IIRC all the roads are planned to be redone.

It's for the public realm, not the roads.

Since this Downtown Recovery Strategy Report was produced the budget for the public realm project was increased by $47,353, from $2.5 million to a total of $2,547,353.

Yep, frustrating how slow the roll out of Build Canada Homes has been.

We've been waiting for you to poke your head around here!

You definitely should give Winnipeg some love on the diagrams page. I would myself but that is not my wheelhouse. Your Designs are very well done. The Human Rights museum, maybe? Or The Planned Portage Place towers, perhaps?
