Excellent!! $55 million is quite the buildout, I wonder how long their lease will be?

That's a great 'get' for CF Pacific, as a new anchor tenant.

Between this and the Aritzia flagship store on the other side of the centre, you can hardly hope for better.
And there's also Lululemon taking up major office space above them, too.

A little interview

Simons is coming to Granville and West Georgia
CBC British Columbia

28 Apr 2026 The Early Edition with Stephen Quinn
Quebec retailer Simons is set to take over part of the space that was formerly occupied by Nordstrom at Pacific Centre in downtown Vancouver. For more on what is planned for the new department store, CBC’s Amy Bell spoke with Simons CEO Bernard Leblanc.

Clarks is opening in the old Soft Moc space which is next to the new Soft Moc space at Guildford TC. Apparently Clarks is out of the troubles and is expanding.

Thanks for this! Wow, Amy was so negative and pessimistic regarding that location, she failed to mention that the Nordstrom store was their top performing location in the entire company and the demise of Sears and Eaton's had nothing to do with the Pacific Centre location, she also focused on the demise of Granville when the attraction for Simons was clearly to be a part of Canada's third best performing mall.

Well for a CBC interview it seems like the most obvious question with HBC/Nordstroms closing on that corner, work from home etc.

I mean with the majority of their merchandise being in-house brands in the long run it's going to be how well they compete with Aritzia/Uniqlo/Holt Renfrew at all those different price points.

A more interesting interview with the CEO when he took the job:

Has anyone else noticed how many newly vacant cannabis stores there are? Has the bubble burst on that?

I wish we had more Indigenous pot shops like they do in Toronto… much cheaper and fresher products

In addition to people who just grow their own.
They're not the hardest plants to grow or maintain.

Flying Tiger Copenhagen is opening in Toronto this summer, ifykyk, and they plan to have 50 stores across Canada by 2030. It should do well here, it's very popular in Asia it's cheap and cheerful.

Flying Tiger Copenhagen is cool.. it's fun to walk the maze and see what's new. They have a small number of stores across Asia, but they're everywhere in Europe.

An unrelated but similar layout type store, Normal, I like more. They have more 'convenience' items - toiletries, snacks, etc. Hopefully Normal will follow!

I went to one of its stores in Copenhagen about a year ago and I loved it. Really neat concepts.

For comparison I feel like Flying Tiger is like if you mashed together the market/kitchen area of IKEA and a Ten Thousand Villages, and added a hint of dollar store. Lol
