I actually like how this has turned out. I'm not reading into (pun) the letters put onto the building. It's funky for sure, but I can dig it.

I guess I also see this as something to help lift parts of the South Side up, so I am on board with any development that does that.

It's turning out great. I love a good monolith, especially amidst trees and parkland-- and the asymmetrical design will reward walking around the grounds and seeing how it looks from different angles.

As for the lettering, it's typography-as-art. It's not a billboard-- it doesn't need to be immediately legible. It's a modern version of the way the ancient Greeks and Romans preferred the typography on their monuments: an imposing block of unpunctuated text that requires some focus and patience to read.

Its hideously ugly yet genuinely beautiful at the same time. I honestly like it and am very excited for it to open.

Woah, that's unexpected... the granite faces tilting upward get wetter than the downward facing ones and you get this two-tone effect.

If you have a really windy rainstorm and all the stone gets wet, I imagine the effect will be reversed as the upward facing granite will dry out faster in the sun.

Stopped by with my drone and Nikon after visiting 400. It's quite stunning up close. I always liked the design, but walking as near as I could made it feel even more impressive. Big photo dump...

Really appreciate it. I don't have plans, but can make them. The rendering look cool, but I haven't seen the latest. Admittedly I have a little PTSD from that hospital. Both my partner were treated for cancer there. It was always odd though. It was always a beautiful drive in through the campus.
