Lived in JC from 2020-2022 3 blocks from this site.. Absolutely loved JC, got priced out of our apartment, and had to move back into my condo in Chicago. Will definitely move back someday.

Ah, you are right!

Harborside IV is 20 Columbus.

20 Montgomery is my typo. It should have been 20 Columbus. Still one in the same project.

Equinox is Coming to Jersey City, Hoboken Plans TBD

Quote:
On August 28th, a source close to the Harborside 4 project shared exclusively with The Hoboken Girl that Equinox will be located in the new Harborside 4 complex, located at 20 Columbus Drive in downtown Jersey City. Harborside 4 is a new high-rise residential project that will have over 12,000-square-feet of retail space as well as 800 residential units, per Jersey Digs. While the exact location of Equinox in this complex is not disclosed at this time, the fitness chain will be one of the retail tenants.

As for the potential Hoboken location, on March 26th, HG received a tip from a reader: “There’s buzz that an Equinox is coming to Hoboken!”

Accordingly, the reader heard rumors from two separate Equinox employees on two separate occasions. One employee’s confirmation could only go as far as “whispers” that “may be true,” but asked to remain anonymous to avoid issues. We have since heard from several sources that Equinox is indeed coming to Hoboken, but again, all alleged until confirmed.

Construction Work Begins on 800-Unit Harborside 4 in Jersey City

Quote:
A former parking lot just a few blocks from the Hudson River has turned into Jersey City’s latest construction site as another 50-story tower is slated to rise in the city’s Downtown over the coming months.

Heavy equipment has shown up at 20 Columbus Drive for a development known as Harborside 4. Jersey City approved the project back in May 2024 after the land changed hands about a year before for $58 million.

The project will now instead be Related’s first high-rise residential rental project in New Jersey. The design of the development, drawn up by Handel Architects, features an L-shaped tower toward the north and west sides of the block on top of an eight-story podium.

The northern portion of the tower is set to rise 38 stories, while the eastern portion will top out at 50 stories and just over 684 feet. The building’s lobby will be situated along the southeast section of the property, which will get a new plaza with landscaping under the approved plan.

Harborside 4 Breaks Ground at 20 Columbus Drive in Jersey City, New Jersey

Quote:
Construction is underway on Harborside 4, a 55-story residential skyscraper at 20 Columbus Drive in downtown Jersey City, New Jersey. Designed by Handel Architects and developed in a joint venture between The Related Companies, Modon Holding, and Panepinto Properties, the structure will yield 800 units, with 600 rentals and 200 condominiums. The project will also include 12,000 square feet of retail space split into three separate storefronts, and a collection of residential amenities. The property is bounded by Christopher Columbus Drive, Greene Street, Hudson Street, and Pearl Street.

The above main rendering looks west along Christopher Columbus Drive showing the building beginning with a multi-story podium with a flowing notch at the southeast corner. Above, the main tower features an L-shaped massing with rounded corners. The eastern volume will feature a lower roof height, and is topped with a terrace lined with glass railings. The western volume will rise the full height to a crown with loggia cutouts.

The façade is depicted composed of a triple-height grid of copper-hued paneling surrounding floor-to-ceiling windows, including curved glass at the corners. A new landscaped public plaza and tree-lined sidewalks will surround the complex.

The following rendering previews Harborside 4’s context within Jersey City’s waterfront skyline. This image shows a small cantilever on the northern elevation above the intersection of the tower’s two volumes.
