I'm not sure I fully agree, I think the fireworks have gotten way
safer over time. That's partially based on my gut and partially based on hazy memories of VPD reported stats. I feel like 15 or 20 years ago it attracted some rough people. Some fighting among petty gangs amidst the crowds, knives being confiscated by VPD, the works. I think there's been much less of that in recent years.
