Like anything in this town. It will be extremely difficult to build a rink that competes with either of the rinks in Alberta. Look how hard it was for Calgary to get it done. Never mind poor old Winnipeg. I'd love it but we need another owner with deep pockets to do it IMO. By the time it get's to this. Thomson will be dead. Chipman will be pretty old. Who's the person with the money to do it?
The lower bowl concourse is orders of magnitude worse at intermission than the upper concourse - IMO.

Only expansion left to do at the Arena is sky boxes or suites at or near the same level as the organist box they put in - or possibly hung off the existing roof structure.

Yes the current seats are cramped - but the site lines are fantastic -basically everywhere - there isn't a bad seat in the house.

Winnipeg is never going to build a new arena that costs close to 10-figures. You guys are all dreaming. But this city can throw a lot of lipstick on the current venue - and that's fine. We have an NHL arena that is basically pennies on the dollar compared to these new venues.

I get that sometimes you need to spend money to make money, but spending a billion dollars to hopefully earn a few extra million in revenue a year isn't an investment that is going to pay off.

There's actually a decent amount of movement with the lottery.

How pray tell would the Jets end up with a 3rd overall pick when only the first two picks are drawn?

Also as shown there if the Leafs drop they lose their pick to Boston. If htey don't drop they'll lose their next two first rounders to Boston and Philly, unprotected.

It would be a situation where in the first pick lottery, NJ would win that lottery. Since they can only move up 10 spots, they go from 12th to 2nd. Then if Winnipeg won the second pick lottery, they would be put in third place. Vancouver would retain first overall.

Here are the percentages that each of the 16 team get in the lottery. The second last column labeled odds. Van is at 18.5% odds of winning the lottery. Since the teams from 12 to 16 cant get first, their odds are basically added to Vancouvers chances of drafting first overall, which is the last column. Then the second round odds are somehow calculated based on there being 1 less team in the lottery.

^ Did the rules change recently? I feel like anyone in the lottery used to be able to win the first overall pick.

Probably changed it after Edmonton got it like what, 4 years in a row in the 2010s? lol

Yes the rules changed recently. There's a page here that talks all about it. 2022 is when the move up 10 spots limitation was first used.

It's changed over the years.

Originally it was teams move down at most 4.
Then they changed it to every non-playoff team had a chance in 2015
Then they added top three picks being select in 2016
2021 switched to top 2 being drawn
2022 changed to moving a maximum of 10 and a team can't win the lottery more than twice in a five year span (which if it was had been in place at the time Edmonton wouldn't have won the McDavid pick since they had won in 2010 and 2012.)

Edit: Looking at the rules I mispoke above. "Winning" your own pick doesn't count as a win for the 2 in five rule. Which is why Chicago is still eligible this year and Edmonton would have still got McDavid since the 2010 win had them keep their spot.

Still bitter? C'mon now, the Oilers only had 3 first overall pick in 6 years. And haven't had a top 3 since that McDavid kid in 2015.

Most people that are well versed in the draft feel there's a drop off after 7.

Chances are one team will overthink a pick from 1 - 6 and someone will fall down to us.

We are going to get a good player but definitely not someone who will have an impact next year, unless we win top 2 pick of course.

I have been on both levels at Jets games and while the lower bowl is bad the upper bowl is completely unmanageable as it is.

My seats are behind one of the goals. If I am not out of my seat as soon as the period ends to get to a concession stand no further than one of the corners I will not be back in time to see the start of the next period. There is just not enough capacity to sell food and not enough space for people to move. If there was ever a need for an emergency evacuation at CLC it is likely people in the upper bowl would die.

Winnipeg Jets dressing room stalls up for auction
Stall removal part of home team complex renovation

True North Sports + Entertainment Press Release
WINNIPEG, May 8, 2026

Winnipeg Jets fans can own a piece of history with locker room player stalls up for auction on the Jets Gear eBay store at ebay.ca/str/truenortheshop. The stalls have been removed as part of a complete overhaul of the Winnipeg Jets home team complex. Each of the available stalls is identified with a player name bar and matching autograph and will come with a certificate of authenticity from the Winnipeg Jets Hockey Club. The auction is open and closes the evening of Sunday, May 17 with a staggered end time for each of the locker stalls beginning at 5 p.m.

Following significant multi-million-dollar front of house projects over the last several seasons, this year’s venue reinvestment turns to operational spaces. A complete overhaul and reconfiguration of the Jets home team complex will add 3,000 square feet of usable space for hockey operations. The Jets complex has not been renovated since the team’s return in 2011.

The renovation will benefit player performance and wellness with enhanced strength and conditioning spaces and a circadian lighting system which mimics natural lighting. State-of-the-art technology and amenities, a leading-edge medical treatment and therapy facility and an enhanced athletic workout space, complemented by elevated finishes and aesthetics, will position the Jets facility among the top tier in the NHL and serve as an asset for player attraction and retention.

The work will be rounded out by a new equipment room, the addition of a tunnel allowing access to the visitors bench without crossing the ice, and the relocation of the Matt Frost Media Centre where press conferences and post-game player availabilities are held.

Through almost three weeks of work, the 12,000-square-foot space has been disassembled and gutted of floors, millwork and built-in units with work underway to demolish interior cinder block walls and mechanical systems and remove concrete slabs to get ready for new slab pours. Being built by PCL Construction and designed by global specialists in arena and stadium design Populous, in collaboration with local firms Number TEN and KGS Group, the scope of the project requires an accelerated schedule and will follow aggressive timelines to ensure completion for the return of the team to start the 2026-27 season.

Those wishing to see the stalls in person before bidding can visit the Jets Gear locker room sale Saturday, May 9 at Canada Life Centre. Along with the sale of game-worn and used equipment, select stalls will be on display. The sale runs 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Jets Gear, 300 Portage Avenue.

It's about time, the dressing was seriously dated and lacking compared to the newer rooms around the league. I'm looking forward to seeing what they come up with.

If it's anything like the TNSE office, there will absolutely be ceiling logo and lots of edginess. Number 10 is on the case, so I expect it will be awesome.

A new tunnel into the visitors bench is actually a surprise. They must need to do some pretty involved layout changes to make that work

Sounds like they're doing a major re-do. The Matt Forst media centre is being moved elsewhere. I assume will free up space for the Jets room. Which then made the tunnel possible. They'll lose some prime seating to do it as well.
