Please elaborate. All I've seen is the new admin wants to replace it with chip tariffs.

We were adding tools but right now the demand of chips is low. NXP will focus on factories that will make 300 mm chips. They will not build any in America. Our only hope is a company buys these fabs off of NXP. The Chips act was only for factories that cater to the department of defense. And the fabs here in Austin just make chips mainly for autos.

Construction on The District underway in Round Rock

Quote:
March 6, 2025

Officials broke ground Thursday on The District, a long-anticipated mixed-use development to be built south of State Highway 45 and northwest of Greenlawn Boulevard in Round Rock.

The project by Mark IV Capital will feature 65.5 acres of retail, multifamily residential, office and green space. First introduced to the City Council in 2017, the project has evolved over the years in response to market demands and community needs, growing from an original 1 million-square-foot plan to at least 3 million square feet of development. Now expected to exceed $500 million in private investment, The District is expected to reach full build-out by 2039.

From the link "Great Lakes Capital and Nebraska Furniture Mart, in partnership with the City of Cedar Park, have announced the development of a full-service Marriott hotel and convention center in Cedar Park, Texas, expected to be operational by the first quarter of 2027....This ambitious project will feature a state-of-the-art hotel with approximately 300 guest rooms, a 30,000-square-foot event and meeting space, a full-service restaurant, a breakfast café, and an expansive pool area"

30,000 sf of meeting space is not a convention center!!! Nice draw, but Convention Center It Is Not.

CedarView Development - Cedar Park

Updates from the CedarView development in Cedar Park. The 7-story Marriott convention hotel just topped out and the shells of the two retail anchors are almost complete.

The retail stores are massive. They will draw in regional crowds.

True. But, in the caption it is lower case and in the article - it is referred to as an event and meeting space.

I don't really think it was meant to be an actual "Convention Center." It's the size of a large Trader Joes.

Austin Surf Club halts construction, owes $4.6M in liens

Quote:
Several construction liens were filed for work done in 2025 and early 2026, records show

A lot of celebrities are looking forward to this neighborhood that would be anchored by a wave pool fit for pro surfers. The situation represents a major snag for the ambitious project at the former site of the NLand Surf Park near the airport
