City posted a letter to residents on the development page for the Douglas Park project. Indicates because of height no further public consultation is required and city must issue permits for projects that comply with zoning. Letter likely prompted by local NIMBYs trying to stop the project. It included a few details, 121 units, and 122 underground parking spots.

They should be happy with this. Shorter with more underground parking.

31 more units than the previous larger proposal. Daycare probably took up most of first floor for the original proposal.

Data Centre. Douglas Park construction starting, temporary retaining wall getting started on the west side to hold back the soil while they do the underground parking. Finishing piling at Costco and starting to install the storm water system.

Caitlin Regina city council has voted in favour of Brandt’s proposal to buy several REAL properties during at Wednesday’s meeting.

Following a handful of delegates, some speaking in favour and some against, the vote was put to councillors, who voted 8 to 3
Great news

I have new respect for David Froh. He changed his vote from Exec Committee from no to yes. I thought he was just voting against the deal because he knew it would pass anyway and wanted to be able to point fingers later if there were issue. I guess I was wrong about him.

Semple on 980 this morning said the first phase of the QC Distillery complex is hoping to open in December. To me this is the real centre piece of the whole thing. No one in Canada will have a venue like this.

It was likely the best deal they'd ever get. The other options were to have the city continue mismanaging it on its own, or have some out of town venue operator take it over with the city still footing the entire bill.

One of the best decisions, a city Council has made in Regina and this is going to transform Regina. He changed his vote to yes because there was a lot of backlash against his vote a lot I think we realize he was in the room good for him though. There’s gonna be a lot of good coming from this arena district people are gonna be shocked.

Saw random facebook post from yesterday showing that the old bus terminal has been knocked down. New firehouse permit, foundation must be done and moving onto the structure.

Got a few shots of the servicing work going on in Westerra since I had't been over to that part recently. Hauling lots and lots of dump trucks full of dirt to make a hole for the water storage. When looking at the photos I noticed they started a pad near where the gas station appears in the site plan, though I think that spot is parking beside the gas station. They might just want a non-muddy area for equipment deliveries. I went past the Grand Coulee truck stop, still working on the building but not a lot of progress so I didn't bother getting any pictures.

Finally about to start fixing the highway 11 bypass bridge that was hit nearly 2 years ago. I wonder if there is an interest story behind that delay, such as a disagreement between the province and bypass company over them getting compensated to fix it.

I drive over/under that a lot. I was just joking a week ago that they are probably waiting for it to get hit again so that can get a twofer.

I am pretty sure the Bypass Consortium is responsible for it. They should be able to recover 100% from the trucking company's insurance.

Regina Mayor Discusses REAL’s Brandt Sale
By a margin of 8-3, Regina City Council approved the sale of a number of REAL assets to the Brandt group earlier this week. With more on that, our Juliane Bodini was joined in studio by Regina Mayor Chad Bachynski.

Moved a lot of dirt since yesterday morning. That big lot in Harbour Landing across from the McDonalds has a construction fence around it now and a construction trailer on site.
