The city of Kelowna finalized borrowing for buying the former Westcorp downtown hotel site. Hopefully we see development here in the coming years, it would be much better than a surface parking lot.

Do you know who the developer is? It seems like Fifth Ave Properties owns the rest of that entire block on both sides but this isn't on their website. That'll be a very different and urban block when/if all their projects come to fruition!

It's an uncommon lower mainland developer. The architect (Bouthouse Architects) was the applicant.

I have a lot of criticism about Kelowna, politically its too conservative. A lot of racism there, and road infrastructure is god awful.

But It's such a beautiful city and has among the prettiest backdrops in north america. Stunning photo as always Giallo

Road infrastructure is awful partially because the provincial government (voted in by the citizens of Vancouver and the Island) keeps cancelling projects. Not surprising the people of Kelowna don't want to support a party that refuses to improve infrastructure in their region.

There is a project of upgrading two traffic lights to interchanges on the 97 in West Kelowna that has been in the planning stages now for a decade.

The Peachland 4 lane upgrade / bypass project was shelved until the 2040s, along with a second crossing.

In other words, under the NDP, the Okanagan gets the shaft.

Well said, Vantage. The NDP refuses to invest a dime in this region. At least the BC Liberals put some money in 97 with the new bridge and interchanges on the Westside and twinning between lake country and Vernon. The NDP has basically cancelled the West Kelowna Highway upgrades that the liberals proposed in 2014 that would have been a game changer for congestion.

Meanwhile Vancouver, Surrey, Burnaby all get new hospitals whilst a metro area of 250,000+ shares one overcrowded, understaffed hospital that is completely inaccessible to Westside residents if there is ever an incident on the bridge. If the NDP showed some interest in Kelowna I’m sure some of us may feel a bit different

Funny how Liberal leaning left wing people often choose to throw insults into conversations where they have no place. Its almost like they think everyone agrees with them and are not able to see other sides of the coin. Why dont they point out what an NDP government has accomplished for anyone out side the Lower Main Land and maybe there could be a conversation on that topic.

Look I know my home town. I return there every summer. I won’t allow some Kamloops nobody to tell me what I know from on the ground experience.

My neighbour in Kelowna is racist. It only took him some alcohol to get him to express how he really feels about people of east Indian origin.

I got a family doctor now, so I think the NDP is doing some good things. The NDP has also been the only one that wanted to do something about STRs destroying our communities. In fact support for the NDP has increased in the Central Okanagan if you look at the recent election.

Giallio, awesome pictures. UBCO is already taking shape nicely. This should attract more liberals once it's finished. ������
