That's neat. I did some work for that airport a while back and got the chance to visit. Gold Coast is pretty neat.

No timeline to fix Gastown Steam Clock, stuck on wrong time for at least weeks

Talk about bad timing — in more ways than one.

For at least the last several weeks, visitors seeking a photo opportunity have been congregating around the Gastown Steam Clock, only to find its iconic face displaying the wrong time. The malfunction comes at an especially inopportune moment, just ahead of Vancouver’s busy tourism season, with a record-breaking cruise ship schedule set to ramp up later this month and global attention turning toward the 2026 FIFA World Cup starting in June...

...Upon inquiry, the City of Vancouver told Daily Hive Urbanized today the issue stems from an internal mechanical problem that is still being investigated.

The process to determine the issue is underway. After the problem is identified, a timeline for the repair will be established...

It's been more than a few weeks. It was definitely showing the wrong time last summer when I had friends visiting.

sucks when you are trying to time a photo/video op and you have no idea how long you might have to wait with your family posing hoping for it to go off

Vancouver's $60 Billion Bet: How Canada's Most Expensive City Is Rebuilding Itself

Boundless Building
27 Apr 2026 #Vancouver #Megaprojects #Construction
Vancouver is betting big — really big. With over $60 billion in infrastructure and development projects underway or planned, Canada's most expensive city is undergoing a transformation unlike anything it has seen before.

From the $2.95 billion Broadway Subway extension tunneling beneath the city's busiest corridor, to the groundbreaking Senakw development by the Squamish Nation — one of the largest Indigenous-led urban projects in history — Vancouver is rebuilding itself from the ground up.

In this video, we break down the biggest construction projects reshaping Vancouver — the engineering challenges, the billions at stake, and whether this massive gamble will pay off.

What a weird video. Is it narrated with AI?

I wouldn't doubt that the entire video was created by AI.

I've seen a ton of these types of videos on social media. It's always the same: incorrect images that don't match the narration, acronyms completely mispronounced, footage taken from YT videos about the subject (this video used a bunch of my drone videos and pictures).

I didn’t even bother to open the video. The description in SpongeG’s post is worded exactly like a The B1M video, I even found myself reading it in Fred’s voice halfway through the first sentence.

Same way clankers usually get information - they crib it from more-informed sources and then jumble it together until the algorithm is 99.99% confident the audience will be satisfied with it.

When I find videos like this I report them to Youtube and every other video on their youtube channel, many of them also seem to have fake AI bot engagement and views and are getting huge view counts. We need to try to combat them as they are choking out quality human made content. Definitely don't reward them with sharing them.

this channel on youtube has been doing some videos while about mass timber in BC, some of you may find it of interest. They also did some in the interior, so far there are 5 parts.

Find on their channel https://www.youtube.com/@Archimarathon

I don't know but the old BC Ferries ship tied over in North Vancouver is also forming a noticeable list to one side.
