Logan area photo update

I managed to collect photos of a few projects while I was back in Logan for the weekend.

Fire Station 76 Redevelopment:

500 North Bike Lane:

Logan Regional Hospital Reconfiguration:

Cache Valley Marketplace Target:

Utah State University

College of Veterinary Medicine:

Carolyn & Kem Gardner Learning & Leadership Building (Complete):

South Campus Parking Terrace (Complete):

South Campus Housing (Complete, named Ridge Point Hall):

LDS Institute (Complete):

Bonus Project: Cutler Hydroelectric Dam

The Cutler Hydroelectric Plant is just barely outside Cache County in Box Elder County, though I had to walk/hike a few miles for this I figure I'll share it. I walked a regular route today to find that the Surge Tank at the Cutler Hydroelectric Dam is seemingly being reconstructed. The dam, penstock, and power plant recently finished a major overhaul as the plant finished its first century of operation.

Logan Area Photo Update

Photos taken today (12/7)

Mountain View Tower (Demolition):

College of Veterinary Medicine:

USU Renewable Energy Program:
USU is aggressively expanding in-house electrical capacity to cut costs and emissions, this is one of several new solar installations. USU also generates 350 KW from the Hydroelectric turbines at First Dam.

Cache Valley Marketplace Target:
I'm disappointed with this one, the former mall site had great potential to be a true urban development. Instead it will be more massive parking lots, they recently added insult to injury by replacing the hotel proposal with more strip mall retail. Given the high retail vacancy rates that led to the closure of the mall in the first place I find this development absurd.

Awesome to see the Island Market still kicking and doing well.

Absurd that it requires a Conditional Use Permit to expand by 500 square ft. Wish we could get rid of these kinds of antiquated zoning laws everywhere.

Not really Cache Valley, but this is the closest thread. Here's a photo of construction at TerraPower's Natrium Reactor being built a few miles up the road from the Naughton Power Plant in Kemmerer Wyoming:
