Honestly as bad as the upside down dresser corner pieces look, without them it would look like jail. At least these give the illusion like they are trying to dress it up a bit. I’m more offended by the trump tower like gold and black interior in the renderings lol.

I agree with you. I hated the dresser legs in the renderings, but seeing the rest of the building in person, they are sorely needed to make it look less like a housing block from Eastern Europe in the 80s.

Ok, then a fancy jail.

Our cities deserve better imo.

I was thinking 70's era university dorm but Soviet era workers housing bloc suits it to a tee! Trying to "fancy" that up is just silly.

I can't wait until 99 King is completed and put to bed, the negativity and repetitive criticism makes visiting this thread painful. I realize some don't like this building and are disappointed, your opinions are valid but for god sake, give it a rest once and awhile.

And now, back to our regularly scheduled programming.

Give it a few years and we can be negative and criticize how the water stains are running down the outside and about how the brick inlay is separating.

Budget building built on the cheap....only going to end one way......crumbling.

One thing I feel pretty secure in predicting is...... 75-100 years from now nobody is going to be protesting plans to demolish this heritage building because it will probably be already long gone.

Anyone know what council’s closed door session on 27th is about? Committee of the whole for a financial matter. Seems last one was Lafford related.

Even if they had done something like a few columns of brick to break up the concrete slab, it would have been a big improvement. :/

Like others have said MANY times, give it a rest. Your constant repetitive negative posts are literally ruining the forum for other users. If you really can't help yourself, maybe consider leaving the forum so as not to ruin for the other users.

^ I'm hardly the only poster here who has maintained a negative opinion of this build's design and architectural style whenever the topic comes up. I have also expressed concerns about the quality and longevity of the construction I have heard raised by people I know in construction. I shall continue to do so in the future when the subject arises.

As for my being constantly negative, that is simply false. I am complementary about Building 1 at Fundy Quay, the new Museum design, the renders for the new build on Sandy Point Rd and several other past projects around town. I'm also hugely optimistic about the potential for the Lafford project at Tin Can Beach.

If I refuse to look at every development through rose coloured glasses well, that's just the way it is.....get used to it. If you find this that upsetting then perhaps you should stay out of this thread in the future or at least skip my comments. Maybe there is an ignore feature on this forum. Perhaps you should look into that.

I agree. There are ways this could have been dressed up a bit to soften the blocky Brutalist look. I think one major issue is the window size. In that photo cdnguys posted above they look tiny and out of proportion to the mass of the building

Multiple sources are saying that the old movie theater space in Rothesay, (between Dollarama and Atlantic Superstore), is under construction for Shoppers Drug Mart.

One of the sources mentions they've heard the current Shoppers in Quispamsis will be converting into a No Frills after the new Shoppers opens.

From the Public Safety Committee...

Quote:
Station location optimization.

Current station locations are based upon a historic deployment model and optimal coverage is not obtained. Assuming six stations, there exists some overlap in some service areas and some gaps in others. Opening a new
station in Millidgeville (Medium/long term 1-10 years) along with relocation or updating existing stations
will help to address the service gap identified and can increase the ability to efficiently amass effective EFR to medium and high hazard incidents
Didn't... didn't we just close and sell a station in Millidgeville?

Not 100% sure if the property has actually been sold yet but I believe the city has at least declared it surplus. Closing the Millidgeville station always seemed odd to me....especially with all the apartment growth in the area recently.

I don’t think Sailor is too far off with this prediction, but you never know!

It has been sold. There was something in the most recent agenda about them removing a covenant so the sale could proceed.

You missed the point.

You are the only one who have had multiple people on multiple occasions ask you to cool it because you were negatively impacting their experience.

No one is asking you to change your opinion, but similar to someone using their phone in a movie theatre, we are asking you to show respect for others in the forum and give it a rest.

Of course you can choose to act however you like, but you're respectfully being asked to change your behavior for the betterment of the community here.
