One interesting note is the land along Braker and Stonelake is upwards of 900ft in elevation, above the escarpment. I'm sure the main hospital/office towers will not be far off in scale and height from what's depicted in those renderings. They would really stand out from afar.

This medical center not associated with Ascension Health (Seton). And the "ornamental" towers Ascension began adding to newly constructed buildings in the early 2000's is an homage to the cornette worn by the Daughters of Charity as part of the habits. Ascension is now loosely affiliated with the Catholic Church. Before Ascension's acquisition, Seton was more directly affiliated with the church.

Yes, that stretch of Braker does go from roughly 820' at MoPac to 880' at 183 - so, yes, it will be seen from most of Austin. Pretty cool!

I can see that. However, if they plan on commencing construction by the end of 2026, then, these have to be close. They're not going to drastically change design within 6-8 months of groundbreaking.



As for that tower...it is a bit thin. But, there does seem to be levels within. Maybe administrative offices and/or class rooms?!?

The tower seems to be about a wide as the UT tower. Looks like they're going for another iconic (21st century) beacon for the university

The floors are hard to count, but it seems to be equivalent to ~40.

I'd be willing to put my clown makeup on and say the tower might actually be built. The more I read about this, the more the UT tower is highlighted.

I’m a bit surprised people are doubting it. It’s meant to be in homage to UT Tower and I believe the close up renderings is all of Phase I.

Agreed, I think the tower will be built perhaps as an homage to the tower on UT's main campus. Probably more of a monument than a functional building. But they seem to be highlighting it pretty prominently in the renderings

On Wednesday, the University of Texas System Board of Regents' Facilities Planning and Construction Committee will adopt a timeline and budget for phase one of the much-awaited artificial intelligence-native hospital, UT Dell Medical Center.

Construction on the $5 billion hospital is expected to begin this fall, and initial site preparation could begin within a month after board approval of this first phase, which does not include the actual building but includes design and site preparation as well as equipment that takes time to arrive such as MRIs. The committee's agenda includes information such as a timeline and the cost of the project, which has not yet been disclosed publicly.

The hospital will include both specialty care and an MD Anderson Cancer Center Central Texas location. UT announced the project in 2023 as a $2.5 billion investment to expand access to high-quality healthcare for Central Texas and bring thousands of jobs to Austin, but when a new site chosen and the hospitals were combined into one, the price tag went up to an estimated $5 billion.

Further in the article it states the estimated opening of the hospital is December 2030.
