Attendance was just under 60k each night in Vancouver (including seats behind the stage).

That's the direction things are moving. New Highmark is going to be in th 60-62000 range for seats.

When the CFL change their field dimension, BMO will most likely get a parament stand like the lower part of the World cup Stand.

Saskatoon has reversed course on partnering with OVG for the new arena project. City council voted to no longer have a private partner involved. The project is estimated to cost $1.2B (has not been adjusted to current dollars) to construct. OVG was slated to pitch in $15M (1.25% of the total cost) for construction but was anticipated to take home $176M (43%) of the anticipated projected revenue of $411M over 30 years as private operator. This sounds like an astoundingly terrible deal and I am glad that Saskatoon rejected it.

It doesn’t seem like this project is going to get built anyway though. They are looking for $400M each from the province and the federal government, which I doubt they will get.

That is quite a terrible deal. Astonishing it was ever even on the table.

Hope it works out, but I doubt it. If the Feds do end up pitching in, it will be hard not to do the same in Ottawa at LeBreton (though that's not a public arena).

The Saskatoon plan has convention centre and performing arts centre components so while the Feds are unlikely to contribute to the arena, they might contribute to the project.

The scaffolding under these seats looks insane. Knowing how rowdy it can get there I'd be nervous attending in one of these temporary sections. It's always soccer matches that seem to have the seating structure failures. I'm sure it's 100% safe, but I'd still be nervous the entire time.

They used the lower temp seats on the North side for the Canada - Iceland game and they really help make the stadium feel enclosed (At least on TV). With the new CFL field dimension in 2027 these should be permanent in front of the new suite-party deck structure being built.

The end zone roof is the south side of the stadium, the open end faces north.

South to the right (with the permanent seats) North to the left (where the seats are all temp and they are building the suites and rooftop terrace that will be permanent)

These companies like Nussli have been doing these temp stands for years in stadiums and the others like F1, he swimming at the Paris Olympics and these stands are supposed to go to LA for the Olympics after this. They are solid

Looking good.

It's really hard to build an arena while keeping active street fronts around the building. This design seems to handle it well with two restaurants and the Flames Store. One face without an active front has a big plaza, trees, sprots field and the community rink entrance. It's only the parking garage front that's bad, which is acceptable; there's always going to be one "access street" for receiving and parking.

AI rendering aside, I am curious to see how this whole thing ends up playing out in Vancouver. Obviously it’s pretty preliminary at this time but I will be interested to see if a real ballpark concept ends up emerging out of this. I do think Vancouver is a bit of a longshot candidate, but some of the highest-profile bids, those for new teams in Nashville and Orlando, completely collapsed within the last year, so it’s hard to say there are two current clear front runners in the potential expansion race right now.

Looks like it’s facing southwest, not northeast… and is there even enough room in that north False Creek location?
