They weren't comparing the level of investment to use solar and wind with battery storage to burning gas. They were comparing the cost of investing in renewable energy with the proposed investment in the existing coal fired electricity plants in Saskatchewan. It wasn't specifically about the data centre, which will obviously increase the demand for power, unless they had their own power generation (which isn't the case, as far as I can see).
