In other cities, everyone uses the right lane to go slow and the left lane is for faster drivers. Other cities understand that Ontario's speed limits are set so you can usually go 20 over and no cop will pull you over.

In London, everyone is selfish. People love to sit beside each other on mutli lane roads, going under the limit so people behind can't pass or do anything, it's incredibly selfish and causes a lot of road rage. Which is illegal too, the MTO drivers Ed book says you are never allowed to be near another car on the road, as you are in their blind spot. You need to be at least 3m away from any car, and you should have your own space so you can make decisions easier.

This is why a ton of pileups and mutli vehicle accidents happen in London, everyone is too close to each other. People need to spread out. People also need to learn the speed limits.

I work in Lambeth and am so tired of taking Wharncliffe Road. People need to learn from Bradley Road all the way to Savoy Road its 80km/h, and you can legally go 100km/h. Many times I get stuck in this stretch by selfish people going 70 or under. It's ridiculous, don't use a main road if you can't go the speed of it.

London is the most selfish and ignorant city in Ontario. Everywhere else is tons better because drivers don't go 20 under or selfishly hog lanes. Other cities also have expressways, freeways, better transit, etc. London just lacks as a city and I am leaving soon for a better life in another city. I just can't take the selfishness anymore here. I can't take the people who don't want change cause in their tiny minds, London is a small city still.

I really could care less what anyone on here thinks of me because of this. I'm not the issue, I used to try to be paitent and nice here as a driver and every single time, it has bitten me in the ass or screwed me over.
As someone who travels from London to Toronto regularly, Toronto is worse for slower drivers so no I would say London is better than the stuff that happens in Toronto.

Nah, I love driving in the GTA. I go often too and the traffic is far better. People drive faster on main roads, most of their main roads are 3 lanes and over 70km/h. The only issue is the highway and that's only an issue at certain peak times, which I am never around for.

London is just selfish. I don't get why people have to sit side by side all the time when it's technically illegal to do, and then go under the limit so no one else can pass. It's so annoying and selfish, and these people never get any repercussions for doing so.

At this rate, I'll just start going 20 under for all single lane roads and make people sit behind me. See how people like their time being wasted, and I'll do it on roads like Highbury and Wellington which are under construction.

I also talked to a few city councillors and they will be making sure London Police start pulling over slow and non attentive drivers as well.

No, legally you can go 80km/h. Going 20 over is against the law and can get you 3 demerit points. That stretch of road also has an excessively high speed limit that should probably be lowered to 60. A lot of the limits in southwest London were set long before the area was urbanized and are no longer safe. I have seen a number of close calls from people turning off of side streets onto Wharncliffe who misjudged the speed of oncoming traffic.

Honestly, reading this whole thread is entertaining. Going excessively over the speed limit just because traffic laws are not enforced in this town is way more selfish than obeying the law and following speed limits. One day you are going to get someone killed. Calm down and go with the flow.

If you're ever wondering why insurance rates are climbing, just read this thread

I support raising speed limits on the 400 series and rural roads (county roads are 90 but provincial highways are 80?), but yeah not in town.

I do find a lot of the 40km/h stretches distracting however, as you're more concerned watching your speedometer and the driver riding your ass vs the actual road.

One good piece of news is the 40km/h stretch on Cheapside east of Highbury is no longer a thing.
-It's been bumped up to 50. While it was 60 before, I'll take 50 since I don't feel like a criminal anymore. The road seems like it was designed for 80 so if you wanna drop it to 40, you gotta put in more work to actually design it for 40 rather than slap a bunch of 40 signs on it.

Yeah, Cheapside was just set up as a douchey speed trap. I get the 40 in a school zone thing, but that is hardly a school zone. The only people walking or crossing Cheapside are adults going to Fanshawe, kids aren't on that street going to the elementary schools north or south. South actually being south of Oxford so really, Oxford should be a 40 if Cheapside is

Oh yeah, I'm in total agreement there. If there's no traffic, I'll usually go 60 on main roads in the city, 100 on rural roads, and 120 on the 400-series. But I won't tailgate anyone going less. It's all about what is safe at the time. Speed traps are annoying

Did tyeman200 leave SSP back in June so he'd have more time in his busy schedule to complain on facebook about selfish drivers?

Guy has no time management and can't pack himself a little lunch for the day, but clearly everyone else on the road is the problem.

That's hilarious. Great example of projecting.
