Looks like the Miltonvale Park tiny home project has been scrapped, and the tiny homes that are there are to be moved to the new Hillsborough Community. Development.

Unreal. I hate when these big plans get released and I just know that what ends up being built will almost always be something entirely different. So, the Hillsborough projects goes from mid-rise buildings to tiny homes.

So they cancelled the Miltovale Park. Then announced they would be relocated to Charlottetown's Hillsborough Park neighbourhood. Now, that plan is now cancelled, too.

167 Mt Edward Rd - 150 units

This city council voted unanimously in favour of rezoning a portion of Mount Edward Road from low to medium density to make way for a multi-phased project that wouks see 150 units in the area. Phase 1 is a 47-unit apartment building with underground parking

The trees and the abandoned home have since been demolished.

This 90 unit 6 storey apartment proposal at 600 North River Rd was approved for a height approval back in June 2023. Nothing is happening since and may be a scratch.

This has shortened down to five stories from six, as per this evening's council meeting. It says,

600 North River Road (PID#s 444679 & 600817): This is a request to consolidate portions of PID #444679 (two parcels) and PID #600817 (two parcels) at 600 North River Road, comprising a total of four parcels, in order to construct a five‑storey, 48‑unit mixed‑use commercial building in the Shopping Centre Commercial (C3) Zone.

They can't leave any height to anything in this town. They always shorten everything. Is this a city or what!!

The developers came back on their own with the new design. It’s ugly as hell.

They tore this build apart,

- Approval of the following Variances:

- Stepback above the 4th and below the 7th floor on King and Dorchester Streets. The Bylaw requires a 3 meter stepback a 2meter stepback is proposed. Therefore, a 1 m variance is required for both sides.

- Step back above the 7th floor on King and Dorchester Streets. The Bylaw requires a minimum 6.0 meter (19.7ft) Stepback. A 2 meter stepback is proposed. Therefore, a 4 meter variance is required on both sides.

- Step back above fourth floor interior lot line (east side) facing Bishop’s Palace the Bylaw requires a minimum 10m (32.8ft) interior Yard Setback. A 2m (6.5ft.) stepback is proposed. Therefore, an 8 meter variance is required.

It'll look like STEP BACK hell!

Recently, my wife's first cousin set out looking for a three bedroom apartment. She wanted an apartment and not a house. They wasted a lot of time searching, but all they could find were two bedroom.
One proposal at the base of Prince St was for a ten storey, with the upper two floors as three bedroom apartments. They would no doubt be expensive, but affordability isn't an issue for her.
Shortening this build to eight floors and only two bedroom apartments ruined any vacancies. She is still looking. Thanks to those who opposed the upper two floors. They are probably well off in their cozy homes. She has a month left to find a three bedroom.

Energy from Waste Plant



A new tower crane went up today at this site. At 110' it will be one of the tallest buildings in Charlottetown, and no one lives there. Opposition, none. Build a ten storey building for people, opposition a plenty. I don't get it!

Exterior cladding is soon to go on. This is progressing well.
The 600 North River Rd Bevan proposal across the street, there are stakes in the ground, so there may be shovels in the ground there soon.

An application to IRAC was approved to build a Quick Stop gas retailer in the Sherwood/YYG Business Park.
I've said in the past, and just recently, there is a need for a gas station near the Sherwood Rd roundabout. The closest gas station to the Brackley Rd corridor is Winsloe Irving, Mel's in East Royalty, the Irving on University Ave, and the Mac Esso on Capital Dr. There is no gas retailer on the busy Brackley Rd corridor or in that northeast corner of Charlottetown. This gas station will do well here.

They have started digging here.
