I concur that TA is very walkable and pedestrian friendly. And in fact, the whole metro area fits this description. Tel Aviv's "suburbs" are really just small cities but might as well be an extension of the city itself and no one would know the difference. And they're as dense, urban, and walkable as any US city outside of their core. I'd even go as far as to say that Tel Aviv's suburbs are more walkable than any part of your typical American sunbelt city, like Dallas, Miami, Phoenix, etc.

Nowhere in Israel is as bad as the American cities that have no pavement at all and basically force you to drive everywhere.

But That doesn't mean it's great either, both Tel Aviv and Jerusalem have their share of wide stroads that are uncomfortable for pedestrians and in Jerusalem (and many other places) it is the norm for cars to park on the pavement forcing pedestrians to walk on the road.

As for the "suburbs", it depends which part. The older parts are built as independent cities in similar style and density as any other city and with their own downtowns.
New construction though tends towards car centric "towers in the park" with curvy streets that don't lend themselves to efficient public transportation, and where you often have to walk a long and uncomfortable journey just to reach a shop.

Google to lease 20 floors in Tel Aviv's ToHa 2 tower...

Google is set to sign a 10-year lease with Amot and Bayside for NIS 90 million annually.
Google Israel is in advanced talks to lease 20 floors - one third of the new ToHa 2 tower - for NIS 90 million per year. The memorandum of understanding for the lease is due to be signed in the coming few days, sources close to the deal have told "Globes." The ToHa 2 tower is under construction at the corner of Yigal Alon and Totzeret Haartez Streets in central Tel Aviv, immediately east of the Azrieli Towers.

As a child of the 20th century it still sounds weird hearing skyscrapers and Israel in the same sentence. Took a while for London as well, in 2003 when visting the city only had two buildings over 150 meters. America's gift to the world.

The tower is now topped out, and while It was previously unclear if this would actually be a supertall, current consensus is that its final height is 302-304M.
