Lots of visibility at that 22nd Street location. They should do well with the downtown lunch crowd; and hopefully they'll get people stopping in to grab takeout on their way home from work at end of day. Wishing them well in their new spot.

This on the heels of Edmonton's Colombian setting up shop here. Nice to see Saskatoon getting the attention of other cities. We have such an amazing ecosystem of independent coffee houses in Saskatoon -- something to be proud of.

Original 16: The story of Saskatoon’s Great Western Brewing Company

By Brittany Caffet
CKOM
Mar 24, 2026

There’s something deeply Saskatchewan about the story of Great Western Brewing Company.

It’s a story rooted not just in beer, but in community, resilience and courage that stood firm when it mattered most.

Today, the brewery stands renewed, expanded, modern. Stainless steel gleams where aging equipment once groaned. Efficiency has replaced exhaustion.

But to understand what Great Western is now, you have to step back into the late 1980s, into a moment when everything could have disappeared.

By Jon Perez
SaskToday
Mar 27, 2026

SASKATOON — What began as a small home brewing experiment has grown into a Saskatchewan success story, as Rebellion Brewing expands into Saskatoon with a new location at Gather Local Market.

By Brittany Caffet
CKOM
Mar 31, 2026

Long before The Thick n Thrift ever existed, Cierra Giesbrecht was a kid sitting in a classroom, quietly taking inventory of the space around her.

“I remember always being like, ‘Am I the biggest kid in the class?’” she recalled. “And often, I was.”

It wasn’t just a passing thought. Giesbrecht said it was a constant awareness that followed her through her childhood in classrooms, hallways and change rooms.

By Tavi Dhillon

Saskatoon’s famed riverboat, the Prairie Lily, will cruise the South Saskatchewan River under new ownership after its previous owners’ retirement.
