Beautiful day in Toronto - feels like early May. Currently 14, partly cloudy, zero wind. Going up to 18.

This week will bring a lot of rain and possibly intense thunderstorms tomorrow. Risk of freezing rain on Thursday as a short cold front rolls in, but back to seasonal (and still rainy) for the weekend.

Although not the most ideal weather, a solid week of rain will be nice to wash away the salt and grime from winter, and get the grass nice and green. Spring has sprung!

7 day: 18/15/9/2/10/9/10

EDIT: We blew past our forecast and the sun is shining - currently 20 and definitely our nicest day of the year so far.

None of this post makes up for the few MONTHS of Vancouver weather, and I live in the Ottawa metro. Nice try, Brad!

In Vancouver today, it's been partly cloudy turning sunny, with the high around 9°C.

Up to 15C this afternoon. Some sun peaking through the clouds but generally cloudy especially towards the evening.

Generally speaking no more snow on the ground except for really shady areas and piles of course. Canal (and river i guess? I haven't checked in a couple of days) still pretty much frozen.

Low of 2C this morning.

The warmspot was Sarnia, ON at 22.5C.

Warmest low was Harrow ON, at 8.7C. I will start posting the previous day's official low from now on. As the timing is off on Ogimet.

Thanks Nicko999 for the Canal picture. Yeah, I'm curious about the river and lake ice, looking to view some ice break up videos on YouTube, I see nothing yet.

Another snow day possible tomorrow.

I think if I hadn't escaped to Lisbon for two weeks, I'd be dead. This winter set in two months early. And it's still going.

-2C and snow in Moncton at 1 PM.

Tapering to flurries later this afternoon. Ice pellets/freezing rain beginning after midnight, and lasting until about 10 AM tomorrow. The forecasters don't know what to say about this. EC is calling for more freezing rain with maybe 10-15 mm of accumulation. TWN thinks we will get more ice pellets, and only a few mm of freezing rain.

It will be worse in northern NS. We have a yellow alert warning here. Northern NS has an orange alert warning.

Would a photo of kites and cherry blossoms help?

A recent picture of the North Common in Halifax. The man is putting his dog down because there are no cherry blossoms in sight:

It hasn't all been cherry blossoms and light in BC!

A 121-year-old cold weather record was among several broken in B.C.

Has the weather felt unusually cold to you in B.C., considering how late it is in March?

Then it wouldn’t surprise you that several daily cold-weather records were broken in B.C. yesterday, including one that’s over 120 years old!

According to Environment and Climate Change Canada’s weather summary page, a cold weather record previously established on March 30, 1905, was broken in Tofino yesterday. The previous record, which stood for 121 years, was a temperature of -2.2˚C. Yesterday, the temperature in Tofino hit -3.2˚C, a full degree colder than in 1905. Tofino records have been kept since 1896....

...Sechelt saw a new record March 30 low of -2.2˚C, beating the previous record of -1.4˚C set in 2021. Records have been kept since 1956....

2C and cloudy. Some rain on and off. Of course, cannot have 2 consecutive day above normal. Has to be back to crappy after a day.

Low of 0C this morning. Some rain. It remained above freezing so it was just rain. I am assuming there might have been some freezing rain north of here.

The warmspot was Sarnia, ON at 24.2C. That is the warmest temperature of 2026 in the country.

Warmest low yesterday was Harrow, ON at 8.7C. By giving yesterday's low, it allows me to give the official number and not hypothetical (if it holds).

0C and freezing rain in Moncton at 8 AM.

Pretty messy out, and schools are closed, but no major power outages that I am aware of. The freezing rain should taper off by 10 AM, so I think we've dodged the bullet.

I thought this was a snow-free winter in Vancouver???

I'm getting my winter tires removed next week. I fear I might have been a tad precipitous in this decision.........

After four consecutive below-normal months, March came in above average. From my weather station:
average high 9.2
average low -0.9
mean 3.9

Pretty close to March 2024 and 2025, which averaged 4.3 and 4.1 respectively. The 8-year average for March is 3.0.

We had 16 days above 10 degrees, 8 above 15, and 2 above 20. By contrast, Windsor had 17 days above 10, 11 above 15 and 6 above 20. I'm just a few kms from Lake Erie, which keeps the highs lower at this time of year than further inland.
