I just flew there with Pascan airlines. They are proposing a shuttle bus to get you to the Longueuil Metro station. Otherwise, you will have to Uber, which is still not bad at under 30 minutes to downtown.

Not sure if Pascan is going to use the same terminal.

St Hubert has been home to a RCAF reserve Helicopter Squadron ( CH-146's) for quite some time and the Montreal Reserve Army units occupy quite a bit of the other spaces on the Property. Porter also took over a chunk of the Former CFB Uplands base in Ottawa including building a maintenance facility there.

Only time will tell how this investment pans out for Porter.
Porter looks like it's about to finally get its way at YTZ so it can operate jets there too. Ford has effectively bumped the City of Toronto, which has been the principal opponent to jets (irrationally so, IMO) out of the equation and will take over the airport. The Carney feds seem onside with it, and they have the last say as the regulator. Look for runway lengthening to follow soon. YTZ now has US Customs pre-clearance too.

I travel fairly frequently to Toronto for business downtown and love Billy Bishop.

I am amazed at how Porter are not holding back when it comes to expansion. Yes it certainly looks like YTZ will be expanding in the next few years and Porter will be the main beneficiary of that expansion. With YOW, YTZ, YYZ, YUH and YHM Porter will now have five main hubs in their network. I would consider YHZ a secondary hub at this point. After watching an interview with the Porter Airlines CEO, Michael Deluce, the other day it doesn’t sound like they’re going to be slowing down anytime soon. I for one wish them well and look forward to all their future plans.

They clearly have aggressive plans - they still have another two dozen or so E195-E2s on the way, and another 25 options.

Pity they didn't go with the CSeries as originally intended. Imagine what they could do with that range - particularly from YHZ!

I was thinking the exact same thing Saul. If they had the C Series, as originally planned, they could easily fly trans-continental routes and European routes from YHZ. It is a pity that YTZ’s runway was not expanded back in the day as that was the lynchpin for them to order the C series. I am not unhappy with the Embraer E195 E2 but it just doesn’t have the same range as the C Series/ Airbus A220.

With their upcoming order for another two dozen or so E195’s I am sure there will be many more interesting routes announced in the next couple of years. My hope is that YHZ gets a few routes down south and maybe out west.

Discover Airlines Extends FRA to YHZ Flights into November 2026

Discover Airlines has extended their 2026 season by four weeks. They have added three times weekly flights from October 25, 2026 until November 19, 2026. The flights will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays using an Airbus A330 aircraft. In 2026 the season will now run from March 29 until November 19. During the peak of the season, from April 24 until October 1, the flight will be operating six days per week with only Tuesdays not having a flight. YHZ will now have nonstop Frankfurt flights for eight months of the year. With FRA being a major star alliance hub I wonder if YYZ could sustain a year-round flight in the future.

Air Canada to Offer BGI (Bridgetown, Barbados) - YHZ Flights

Air Canada announced today that they are going to offer BGI - YHZ flights for the winter 2026/2027 season. The flights will operate from December 17, 2026 until April 1, 2027. They will operate once weekly on Thursdays. This flight will be operated by Air Canada Rouge on a Boeing 737 max 8 with 177 seats. As far as I am aware this is the first time YHZ has had scheduled flights to Barbados.

The seasons start date will still commence on June 7, 2026. From June 7, 2026 until September 7, 2026 they will operate two daily flights on the route. From September 8, 2026 until October 5, 2026 they will operate one daily flight. They originally had two daily flights scheduled until the first week of October. These flights will be operated on a Canadair RJ 900 (Bombardier) by Endeavour Air on behalf of Delta Connection.

Porter Airlines Reduces Winter 2026/2027 YHZ - MCO (Orlando) Service

Porter Airlines has reduced their winter 2026/2027 YHZ - MCO service from six flights per week in the 2025/2026 season to five flights per week. The flight will now operate every day except Monday and Tuesday. The exception to this is that over the Christmas period from December 17, 2026 until January 3, 2027 the flight will operate daily. This is a further reduction from the winter 2024/2025 season when they operated the flight daily for most of the season. As of yet, there are also no signs of them reintroducing the TPA flight that was cancelled this past season.

Air Canada Reduces YVR-YHZ Flight Frequency and Season Length Again in Summer 2026

Air Canada have reduced YVR to YHZ flights by shortening the overall season again and by lowering the weekly frequency in summer 2026. Seasonal flights will now resume on June 20, 2026 as opposed to May 1, 2026 as originally planned. From June 20, 2026 until September 6, 2026 the flights will operate four times weekly on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. This is a reduction from the daily service originally scheduled. From September 7, 2026 until the end of the season on October 24, 2026 they currently have daily services still scheduled. The flight will be operated by either an Air Canada Rouge Boeing 737 max with 177 seats or an Air Canada mainline Boeing 737 max with 169 seats. Air Canada are switching all of their Boeing 737 max aircraft from their mainline fleet to Air Canada Rouge so every flight will eventually be on AC Rouge. I am going to hazard a guess that this reduction is brought on by increased jet fuel costs which makes some longer routes less profitable. AC have also reduced their YVR frequencies to both YOW and YQB. With all of their flight reductions, US, Mexico and now domestic, they are going to have a lot of slack in their fleet capacity.

WestJet have not changed their YVR-YHZ operations for the summer 2026 season. Their season starts April 27, 2026 and operates until October 23, 2026. The bulk of their season, May 17 until September 14, operates with a daily service on their Boeing 737 max 8.

Air Canada Further Reduces YVR - YHZ Frequencies

Air Canada have reduced the YVR - YHZ frequencies again. They will now operate the route on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays for the whole season. They are also downgauging the aircraft from a 177 seat Boeing 737 max 8 to an Airbus A220 with 137 seats. These flights will operate from June 20, 2026 until October 24, 2026, barring any further changes. They seem to be sharing this aircraft with the YVR - YQB route as this operates on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.

One small positive, the A220 is a joy to fly on vs. the MAX-8. Perhaps an end to the conflicts and the lowering of jet fuel prices will give AC a reason to increase the frequency, YHZ-YVR again.

I agree. The A220 is so much more comfortable a ride than the Max-8. Yes hopefully when things settle down a bit AC will up their frequency to pre Iran war numbers. Meanwhile we will now have to rely on Westjets daily seasonal service for the bulk of our YVR lift. WestJet will have 1218 weekly seats compared the AC’s 548 seats.

Transborder traffic continues to be hard hit by the severe reduction in flights to both MCO and TPA on both Porter Airlines and Air Canada.

International numbers were hard hit by the cancellation of all Cuba flights on Air Transat, WestJet and Air Canada due to the lack of fuel in the country.

On a positive note domestic traffic had a healthy increase of 11.4% over March 2025 and surpassed 2019 levels for the first time since the pandemic.

Fort Lauderdale? Interesting. So apparently Porter is banking on Canadians yearning to return to the US by December. Good luck with that...

Personally, I think that even if all the USA-Canada fences were mended tomorrow, it'd take quite a while till pre-Trump transborder traffic levels return.

And what's with FLL? Why not restore YHZ-TPA? That flight was full every time I was on it - until this time last year, that is.

All I can think of is that Porter are trying to enter a market where AC don’t offer any non-stop lift. They have basically switched the frame they used for TPA a couple of years ago to FLL. So with their partner Air Transat they will now have five flights to FLL per week. FLL is also a good market for the cruise business.

Who knows whether consumers will be ready to head back to Florida this coming winter season.
