Burrard Chinook maintenance

Quote:
Some Victoria residents may have noticed their harbour has a new visitor. Our Burrard Chinook SeaBus sailed over earlier this month to Point Hope Maritime Shipyard to undergo maintenance.

“As the Burrard Chinook approaches its five-year service anniversary this July, the vessel is completing its first Transport Canada drydock in Victoria for scheduled maintenance and upgrade work,” says Capt. Jag Gill, Director, SeaBus, Coast Mountain Bus Company. “This work will help to further enhance operational efficiency, environmental performance, and service reliability.”

Since the Burrard Chinook’s first day of service on July 22, 2021, the vessel has safely and reliably delivered more than 80,000 sailings.

The Chinook will soon be in ship-shape again and ready to provide many more safe, efficient, and dependable years ahead.

I assume they drove it to Victoria and it wasn't taken by tug.

Un-related, how is fueling done for the sea buses? it just occurred to me. Gas lines in the storage berths?

It did sail down under its own power the tug was just in for drydock as well.

I assume they use those two above ground fuel tanks at Lonsdale Quay next to the bus loop?

EDIT: There's some 2025 project to replace the fuel tanks as part of a system wide "2025 CMBC Transit Centres and SeaBus Fuel Tanks Relocation/Replacement"

Yes, refuelled at night from their on site storage tanks, the tanks are in turn filled by tanker truck every few days.

There is no regional refined product pipeline network.

I never knew they had a pipeline from the terminal in Burnaby all the way down to YVR for jet fuel. And they have the newer one through Richmond from the Fraser River.

The "Sorry" on the destination sign reminds me of a post I saw somewhere of a Tranlink bus showing "Sorry" - the poster commented: isn't this the most Canadian thing ever?

We get a talking seat (aka the seat right next to the front door from high-floor days) so we can talk with the driver and geek out about transit.

You can see how narrow the aisle is for the low floor bus' wheel wells, plus a big bulkhead on the left rear, so the 3rd door makes sense.

I wonder why they went with the doors that swing inside the bus?

Seems like they have the display screens for the side/rearview cameras.

Could be a Euro standard.
Could also be better for all door loading if doors don't swing out.

I belive they're built with a traditional high floor rear when spec'd for two doors.

Found a YouTube short that seems to show how the doors operate.

https://www.youtube.com/shorts/iuO3VshpUdQ

Those white plastic strips above each side of the door are white for illumination and turn red while the door closes. They can also flash I guess as an option.
