I noticed that the Drake St bike lane expansion is in progress down to Richards St. But they have put the signal devices in before pouring any of the concrete islands and other barriers. Seems a bit backwards but maybe the design is changing.

I'm glad to see that they seem to have left room for potential highway expansion. Some of the easier fixes identified in the Upper Levels report from a few years ago were to extend the third lane on the Cut westbound to the Lynn Valley exit and to extend the Lynn Valley eastbound onramp down the Cut.

Casano-Loutet Overpass crews are busy building out the temporary supports needed to pour the overpass’s 4.5m-wide concrete surface. On Feb 23 & 24 a section of Highway 1 near the site will reduce to single lane traffic from 10 p.m. – 5 a.m

I'd love to check this out but I'm curious what the cycle connections are on either side of this. Google Maps and the City of Burnaby's cycling map aren't super helpful (yet).

The north side runs along Sperling Avenue and connects to the Central Valley Greenway at Sperling–Burnaby Lake Station. The south side follows an unusual pathway along Highway 1. I don’t think the south side sees a high volume of users.

What’s happening?
We’re working to implement quick-build traffic calming measures in the Moberly Park neighbourhood through the Neighbourhood Traffic Management Program(External link). The project area is bounded by Fraser St, E 57th Ave, Argyle St and SE Marine Dr. The focus of this project is on reducing the impact of non-local vehicles on local streets. The boundary streets, as well as Knight Street, are out of scope.

We are engaging with the community to inform the traffic calming measures selected for this neighbourhood. Traffic calming refers to physical changes on the road to slow traffic and reduce vehicle volumes. These changes make roads safer for all users.

What have we done??? We have just built an overpass for bears to invade central Burnaby from the direction of Burnaby Mountain and Burnaby Lake...

They are also enhancing biking connections along Sperling avenue connecting Deer Lake to the new overpass.

Maybe I'm too much of a rule follower, but that doesn't look very "open" to me. Plenty of people using it in that video though. Also looks to be unfinished, sections of railing missing.

It's not open, the site workers are just playing a little fast and loose woth securing the construction fencing.
