1010 S. Wells

Mobile crane on site that I'm guessing will be used to erect the tower crane.

I take it that those pillars with those green rods in the last picture are for the river walk in this area?

Could to for support columns for the building. The renderings indicates that the tower portion will at least partially cantilever over the riverwalk. I may be wrong however.

I’m so glad to see this part of the river finally get developed. With this, the other building that will be built next to it, the Chicago Fire stadium and the potential Polk St bridge, this area is going to look so different in 10 years

Would be amazing if what looked like potential storefront spaces on Wells in the Roosevelt Collection complex were built out and opened up when the stadium was completed. Could potentially enliven all of the shops there.

Would be amazing to see the tower that was a part of Roosevelt Collection come back to life and be built.

I was thinking about this recently; it’s such a shame that nothing new came out of that when the original tower was scrapped. It’s such a perfect location for taller, thin tower, already carved out by the negative space of the rest of that development.

South Loop developer lands $83 million construction loan for long-planned Riverline project

Quote:
Chicago developer CMK Companies has landed $83 million in financing to kick off construction on what appears to be the first phase of its long-planned Riverline residential development in the South Loop.

The firm received a construction loan from Wintrust Bank to finance a 388-unit apartment project at 1010 S. Wells St. in February, according to the bank and Cook County property records. Work on the site, which sits between the Chicago River and the apartment and retail complex Roosevelt Collection, began recently, according to reports.

I wonder if this is why 1010 appeared to have started then stopped for a while - Must have been waiting for this financing to go through.
