Smile NEW YORK | 56 Great Jones Street | 275 FT | 25 FLOORS

How great is Gotham? (Rhetorical question.)

25-story residential building in the works for the NW corner of the Bowery and Great Jones

Quote:
A new development for the NW corner of the Bowery and Great Jones is moving forward.

As previously reported (first by PincusCo), Lonicera Partners was assembling a potential development site at this northwest corner. Lonicera signed a contract to purchase 348 Bowery, the former Bowery Market and mechanic's garage, and took a minority stake in 350 and 352 Bowery, the two adjacent properties to the north.

There are now new permits on file for a 25-story residential building, including inclusive housing, at the corner under the address 56 Great Jones St.

Very attractive residential tower. Bowery is amazing compared to 20-30 years ago.

Pretty incredible lean on those two old buildings. I'm not sure I've ever seen anything that bad in the entire city. Looks like something you'd see in old Amsterdam not New Amsterdam.

Once this is built they're perfect candidates to put out of their misery and put up another gem.

Noho Food Market relocating as another Bowery corner awaits development

Hopefully, the huge parking lot on Great Jones and Lafayette also moves forward this year.

I will miss it. Hope they can recreate the atmosphere on another corner.

What I wrote on another forum:

The building looks nice, but will miss that little quirky market on that lot with the little Tokyo-esque alleyway and shops.

In this particular case, I might just barely side with building the larger building here. But usually I side with the more finely grained urbanism, more than the average urbanist on here, even when it’s in lieu of a much larger urban structures.

This is what would be lost:
