The owners of said parking lot are the same owners as the Maclean Block (Where Audreys is). In addition, there are tenants in the Maclean Block that have allocated parking stalls on said lot via their leases.

They could remove whatever is left of the road and expand the parking lot right up to the building and shoppers drug mart could take over the bookstore. That would be a nice slice of surburban heaven in the middle of downtown.

Please excuse me while i go to the bathroom and throw up.
