Yeah, no doubt this is to avoid further encroachment into Green Timbers with columns on the outside of the roadway.

The side located siding results in the possibility to build an asymmetrical guideway which will reduce the cost and overall size. Much lower dynamic loads on the siding portion of the guideway to be supported.

Elsewhere for sidings they're used bents.

We're also wondering if there will be two side by side precast guideways
(One regular height segments and the siding more squat segments or I-beams)
or oddly shaped segments carrying both tracks.
ie what shaped guideway will sit on top of them?
One other thing I just noticed back near 96th Avenue the first offset pier has a deeper cutout versus the remaining ones.

no, there are others that remind me of old school malls there, video games, camera store, hobby stuff, etc.

Pacific Centre is exactly what modern malls are all turning into, shoe and clothes stores and cell phone carriers and nothing fun to browse otherwise

^^ One thing I just noticed when the bus turns away from the section with the weird crossheads. It seems like there's some holes for possibly some post tensioning cables on the far side of the crosshead.

Yikes. They are adding ugly railings along the sides. Much more noticeable than the existing elevated guideways.

On closer inspection, it looks more permanent - it could just be in station areas.

Pretty sure those are temporary for safety during construction. Much like what you can see along the expo line where rail replacement is happening.

The walkway in the centre will have railings like the rest of the line.

I guess once they install rail etc. we'll see what happens.

Some sections just have the poles with a wire strung across them.

They seem to be too neatly installed to be temporary, and they double-up on the temporary fences.

Yeah I was just rewatching the video to see how they were attached since the temporary poles don't all seem to lineup with where those fences are mounted. I think you're correct.

And I thought the handrails on the roof of Stadium-Chinatown were stupid.

The red painted clamp-on brackets with the cable strung between them are temporary safety rails. You will see them around the system when they are doing multi-night track maintenance in any area not at or below ground level. It's less of to hold onto and more a secure point you can clip your fall harness to.

Back about 15 or 17 years ago they went WorkSafe crazy over the whole system and added it to the station roofs, ladders or really anywhere maintenance workers had to be (because when common sense and unions are brought together, the union always wins.)

Ugh.
So you think these railing are for track maintenance worker safety?

The question is whether the railing is taller than the bottom of the train windows.

The wire rope with supports clamped to the guideway is the temporary construction protection, the galvanized railings bolted to the the outside of the guideway looks to permanent.
The same railing is fit to Expo and Millennium guideways at the ends of the stations.

It seems to extend for long stretches of the guideway. I guess we'll see which sections don't get it to figure out the reasoning behind it.
