Oh we definitely are some strange places in rural areas where I live. Some are even located within Timmins city limits. Here's one I've always found creepy on Hwy 655. It's a round or hexagonal house located between a Miller Paving asphalt facility and properties that have garages and shacks with core samples for mining and across from a concrete business and gravel pits. I don't think it has any windows and it has a chimney in the centre of the roof. I've always thought it would be a perfect place for some type of cult

I thought about the Wickerman while looking at those "castle" shots. Probably because of the standing stones.

On every May Day, in the backyard of this "castle":

Oh man, there is some quality content in this thread lately. Thank you all for the break I needed today.
I’m just logging on to be petty and dump on a local McMansion fake castle I go by frequently in Calgary. One would be hard-pressed to find a more delusional asking price in urban Calgary.
Great neighbourhood – Hounsfield Heights, but this one sides on the artery street at the edge of the neighbourhood, and is generally surrounded by 1950s 1,000 SF bungalows on a busy street in the $700k range. Asking $2,895,000, and been on and off the market for a long time. The interior design is reminiscent of a "luxury" 1990s funeral home, favoured in recent decades by that pre-boomer era snowbird generation born in the 1920s-1940s. The problem is that they’ve aged out of this place.
Several homes with significantly superior quality, on way better lots nearby have been listed and sold smoothly for lower prices in the last few years than this one.
Who will be the buyer? I would expect a 1st or 2nd generation Canadian who has McMansion dreams and a large extended family. Do they have the $1.8M this place is probably actually worth to the free market? What’s the ratio of actual market value to current replacement cost on this one? How painful is this reality check listing process for the owner?

I dunno man, it should be a gigantic wood burning hearth to go along with a castle theme, not Home Depot grade NG insert.

Wow! Funeral home indeed. The interior looks like what I imagine parts of Les Residences Soleil are like inside.

First there is this jail bathroom with impenetrable static walls of pure dark energy. Not even a fucking mirror!

A suitably dour reception area for a wake:

Sacrificial altar:

Basin to dissolve bodies:

The old lady from room 237 is behind that curtain. There is no convincing me otherwise.

It looks like the perfect mausoleum for Carbonite Eddy Savoie to be stashed away. But as we know, his malevolence cannot be contained.

When Clockzilla is full, dead Eddy will roam the earth.

Happy to hear that. With all of the bullshit going on in the world right now we all could use a laugh.

Thanks for sharing that luxury funeral home.

Came across this strange building reno over the weekend. It looks untouched since the 2024 streetview including scaffolding. What a desecration of a historic home.

https://www.google.com/maps/place/Calgar..._ep=EgoyMDI2MDIyNS4wIKXMDSoASAFQAw%3D%3D

Looks like the renovation began a decade ago in 2016. World's longest reno.

https://www.google.com/maps/place/Calgar..._ep=EgoyMDI2MDIyNS4wIKXMDSoASAFQAw%3D%3D

The original wasn't fantastic, but I'm sure it could be restored to its former glory before the drab blue siding.

Never been, but each year to mark the end of summer and the start of the fall harvest, they hold Harvest Fest for a 4 day weekend (since 1998). The owner has erected semi-permanent structures around his property for DJ's to use for their sets. This is the Screaming Head House.

Video Link

Tickets for this September start at $335+fees.
