Yeah - With the revisions to the setbacks, the profile went from an elongated chisel to a dulled butter knife. Most likely done the save costs (and maximize standardized floorplates).

Right^ I believe the setbacks were changed to maintain the same or similar amount of units when the heights were shortened.

Looks like the center core is topped out! All the equipment and concrete rig have been removed from the top.

Will we end our streak of 500 ft+ skyscraper construction once this is complete? Are there any other 500 ft+ towers ready to get off the ground in the next 6 months or so?

Metropolis point apparently announcing start date soon (mid '27) https://chicagoyimby.com/2025/12/potential-start-date-announced-for-metropolis-pointe.html but there is no way that will be built like the renders IMO. And they might start a shorter initial phase if they ever do.

Or 669 Michigan but that's early stages: https://chicagoyimby.com/2025/09/42nd-wa...posal-for-669-north-michigan-avenue.html

One of the next phases of North Union by JDL is probably the most likely for one that could suddenly restart. Although they issued demo permits for the lots for a 160 footer so that's probably next. https://chicago.urbanize.city/post/demo-permit-issued-make-way-next-phase-north-union

Or 301 S Wacker but probably long shot in near future https://chicago.urbanize.city/post/renderings-emerge-proposed-office-tower-301-s-wacker

Are there any 150m+ in Fulton waiting in the wing?

725 W Randolph I think could likely start before all of those.

If the right deal can get done, you're probably right.

This.

Still plenty of demand for A+ Office Space. But with construction costs and interest rates still high. It’s hard to get the right deal right now.

I think Chicago is overdue for both luxury condos and A+ office space. Last cycle was relatively recent though and this is a city of volatile cycles then 10 years of nothing.

I hope over the next 5-10 years some of the back burner projects come to fruition.

Happy how this building is turning out though, just wish it could have been 1-200 feet taller.

It will probably be 931 Halstead, the first construction permits were issued in November I’d assume it’ll be breaking ground by summer.

Thanks for pointing this out. I think you may be right.

With 12 or so months left on 400 N Lakeshore I think we'll get another.

Still disappointing overall but Chicago will keep the flame burning....

Some phone pics from today! Pretty commanding presence over this section of lakefront trail.

Unless my counting is off, I'm only seeing 7 setbacks on the southeast side, whereas the most recent renderings show 9 + the top, so there should be around 5 variable-height stories of glass cladding above the core. If the avg height of each story of glass is 13ft, it'll be around 65ft of decorative crown. Quite a bit more than we usually get here in Chi

I was hoping to catch a glimpse of 400 driving southbound on N. LSD this weekend, but it was completely obscured by OBP. Only the crane was visible.

This is an absolute beauty on how it turned out. I agree with those who say it looks like a New York thin.

I travel a lot for work to Manhattan and at the beginning I hated the Billionaire row thin towers for it took away from Chrysler, Empire, etc.

Now, the NYC skyline looks just futuristic and I like them.

Chicago has had quite the run in the 2000's.

Flying back recently, still a lot of empty land around downtown.
