I kind of like Edmonton's look now. It is giving a lot of Australian city vibes to me. Build one more 230m tower offset somewhere.

It would be cool if Edmonton started building taller on the south side of the river too. There's some highrises there, but a 150m building or 3 would be cool.

TD Centre was just the first one out of the ground. Same happened in Montreal. There's nothing firm in Edmonton in the 200 metre range or is there an expectation for something in the near term. Longer term, we could be at the peak of Canadian skyscraper enthusiasm and the following 30 years will see relatively few skyscrapers built. Maybe Edmonton skyline builds out to Stantec's height within our time frame or maybe it doesn't.

There was one proposal for the East end of Jasper avenue that was 260m or something crazy, but I don't think that is still around. Looking at the diagram page. I think 200m would probably work to balance things out a bit. That seems achievable in the nearer future.

Today is certainly not the boom years of the 60s and early 70s however, there's still a parallel to be made; the Edmonton skyline will fill out with 200-250 meter towers eventually.

it's incredible just how much Metrotown has bulked up since I lived in Vancouver (90s)

I love Kotsy photos. Not only does he/she/they take such high quality ones, they always put their name on a building in the photos

The "Town of Oakville" has a population of ~235,000!

Is there a benefit to being a town of a quarter million people?

Not legally. There is no legal distinction (in Ontario) between hamlets, villages, towns, cities etc. It's up to the municipality.
