^ Yes!

So, like JPMC, this will be another owner occupied supertall office building. 350 Park will be similar, but with space for leasing...

https://www.americanexpress.com/en-us/ne...he-art-global-headquarters-new-york.html

Quote:
American Express will be the sole owner and occupant of the new building, which is expected to be completed in 2031. The new headquarters will be custom designed to foster innovation, collaboration, and well-being for colleagues, while reinforcing the company’s deep roots in New York City.

Located at 200 Greenwich Street, the building will be developed on land owned by the Port Authority under a long-term ground lease.

....Spanning nearly two million square feet across 55 floors, the new American Express building will have capacity to host up to 10,000 colleagues across flexible and modern workspaces designed to inspire collaboration and creativity. It will feature more than an acre of outdoor space with several greenery-filled terraces and gardens and sweeping views of the Manhattan skyline.

It's a smaller tower than original, but very close to the same height, and looks very much like one of the versions we've been seeing.

American Express To Move Global HQ Into Final World Trade Center Tower

February 25, 2026
Ethan Rothstein

Quote:
It's official: American Express is moving its global headquarters to 2 World Trade Center. But, unlike the other corporate titans that have moved into the rebuilt complex since the 9/11 terrorists attacks, it is taking ownership of its new skyscraper.

The credit card giant announced Wednesday that it will be the “sole owner and occupant” of 2 World Trade Center, a 2M SF tower at 200 Greenwich St. Construction is expected to start in the spring with completion estimated for 2031.

“Our new headquarters will be more than just a building — it will be a place for our colleagues to feel energized, inspired, and proud — a home for innovation, interaction, and growth,” American Express CEO Stephen Squeri said in a statement.
Quote:
The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey owns the World Trade Center complex, which has been leased to Silverstein Properties since April 2001. Silverstein transferred its lease for 2 WTC to American Express, a spokesperson for the development firm told Bisnow Wednesday. Terms of the deal and estimated cost of construction weren't disclosed.

American Express has been headquartered a few blocks away at 200 Vesey St. since 1986. It plans to stay there until 2 World Trade Center is complete.

The new 55-story supertall was designed by Norman Foster of Foster + Partners and will rise 1,226 feet, making it the second-tallest building in Lower Manhattan, eclipsing the 1,079-foot-tall 3 WTC, which Silverstein delivered in 2018.

Rising Again.

The land of the buffalo and the cowboy- the skyscraper and aeroplane and motion picture

I look forward to seeing more renderings from the north, south, and east.

This tower is amazing. It is over 200 feet taller than the US Bank Tower in Los Angeles.

It would be the tallest tower in every Western city outside of New York and Chicago.

The views from the gardens are going to be the best in the world.

Finally! Been waiting over two decades for this! Needed a pick me up today and this really helps! I am so excited to finally see this thing rise after watching this thread spin its tires for so long! Glad they opted for this design instead of the shorter, fatter one with the spire too.

And now, we wait for a 5 WTC start date, and it will be over as far as the WTC goes.

This tower moving forward takes it off the board, and now other stalled towers (15 Penn and 3 Hudson) are in the hot seat.

If we include 175 Park and 350 Park, this would be the 8th tallest office tower in the city.

And for a final note, it took about 2 years to get this deal done. That shows that it calls for a little patience when waiting for tenant announcements. These things aren't going to happen overnight.

I'm glad that Larry got this done. He's a great New Yorker! I hope that he lives to see it topped out at the 30th Anniversary of 9/11.

I like it, floor count is a little low but I guess they'll skip floors like the others.

Hope to see cranes soon.

Great opportunity for 5WTC to break the spiral and be the tallest and best of the whole complex, given the foundation isn't set yet IIRC.

5WTC won't break the spiral. It's scheduled for all residential and to be about 900 feet tall.

I'm aware, my point is that unless the foundation is laid there's still time to change that and give us a real signature tower.

^ 5 WTC is part of the "spiral", and there's no sensible reason to think they would change it. Concern yourself with Tower 2.

We know that American Express weighed options, including staying at their current home. But if they were going to move, I felt 2 WTC always made the most sense. Moving from 200 Vesey to 200 Greenwich is basically a leap over the Freedom Tower. They will still be connected to the old complex by the underground concourse. I guess the current building will be sold when they move out.

Quote:
Larry Silverstein will develop the project for Amex, which will take control of the land previously leased to Silverstein by the Port Authority. Amex is currently based at nearby 200 Vesey Street, where Amex and Brookfield Properties each owns half the tower.

A source said Amex hasn’t yet decided whether to dispose of its old space or keep part of it, but will likely sell it to Brookfield. “They have plenty of time,” the source said.

Two World Trade will have the legal address of 200 Greenwich Street. Construction is to start almost immediately and the building to be finished in 2031. Amex will be the sole owner and occupant of the 55-story, nearly two million square-foot tower designed by Foster + Partners.

"Note: Images above are proposed renderings. Final details, features, and specifications are subject to change."

Tentatively excited.

The excitement here will be held until we have final renders...... This is after all being developed by Larry "Low End" Silverstein. As he callously demonstrated with the watering down on WTC3, the WTC2 design could suffer at the feet his terrible discretion; hopefully AmEx convinces him to build something more appealing than a mundane stack of boxes blocking the elegance of the Freedom Tower.

Here's hoping

Hasn't this been watered down enough?

The spiral is not a sacred set in stone plan, if they wanted to make 5WTC taller they could.

American Express unveils plan to build 55-story tower at World Trade Center site
By Steve Cuozzo
Published Feb. 25, 2026, 1:53 p.m. ET

Nice quote by Mary Ann:

Quote:
CBRE’s Mary Ann Tighe, who represented Silverstein in the negotiations with the Port Authority and Amex, said, “It seems especially fitting that the final building to rise on the site should have the word ‘American’ prominently displayed on it. Kudos to a great company for making a bold and brilliant patriotic gesture to its hometown and its country of origin.”

If they wanted to build a 3,000 ft tower, they could. See how that works? This is a tower 2 discussion. Take you concerns for tower 5 to that thread. And thank you.

Meanwhile, keep the headlines coming! We've waited long enough.

American Express deal unlocks final stage of New York’s World Trade Center redevelopment
Global financial services giant agrees to own yet-to-be-built office tower

By Andria Cheng
February 25, 2026

Quote:
American Express said Wednesday it will build and become the sole owner and occupant of the 55-story, 1,226-foot-tall tower spanning nearly 2 million square feet at 200 Greenwich St. The planned property could accommodate up to 10,000 employees. Its signature feature: more than an acre of outdoor space, including several terraces and gardens with sweeping views of the New York skyline.

American Express will remain at its current home nearby at 200 Vesey St. until the new tower is completed. American Express owns the more than 880,000 square feet of 200 Vesey it occupies, and Brookfield owns the remainder of the building, which was built in 1986.

An American Express spokesperson declined to specify to CoStar News the expected project cost for 2 World Trade Center and said the company will provide updates on its plans for 200 Vesey after the new tower opens.

World Trade Center’s last office tower soon will get built and house American Express

By JENNIFER PELTZ
February 25, 2026

Quote:
The 55-story, roughly two-million-square-foot (186,000-square-meter) 2 World Trade Center building is planned at the site’s northeastern corner. The spot is currently occupied by a low placeholder building, covered with colorful graffiti-style murals, and a beer garden.

American Express declined to discuss the cost of the new building, which the company will own, leasing the underlying land. The tower isn’t getting state, city or Port Authority financing or incentives, said Port Authority spokesperson Tom Topousis, who referred questions about the cost to American Express.
