McMorris is out of the Olympics after a big crash in training. Was hoping he would finally get his gold!

He's just out of Big Air, May be back for lope style.

The real sad one is Deanna Stellato-Dudek in pairs skating. Injury in training nocked her out.

McMorris will be back for slopestyle.

Sad the women's hockey team got blown out by the US, hope they can use it as motivation and come back stronger!

How do you think Canada did at The Olympics?

I was expecting a little better than they did but overall not too bad. I thought we would have a couple more gold than we did. Brad Jacobs is from my hometown so I'm happy he won gold.

I predicted at the beginning of the games with my friends that Canada would finish with 26 medals, (7G, 8S, 11B). They finished a little below my prediction but not too far off.

I'm mildly disappointed. In terms of overall medals, this was our poorest showing at a winter olympics in 24 years. If you look at just gold medals, you gotta go all the way back to 1994 when we won just 3 golds. Also, there were a few displays of incredibly poor sportsmanship by some of our olympic team, and that was very unfortunate to see.

the 51st state comments from Maga about both the womens and mens hockey games are a little annoying, like oh if you want your beloved hockey back just become the 51st state. and the curling really irked a lot of people outside of Canada who cheated their way to the gold medal aparently.

I thought we did ok but it seemed like there was some poor sportsmanship in these games compared to the past.

I have to say I am disappointed in our overall results especially when I gauge it against other smaller countries or those that have less resources and winter season that we do.

One good thing is we win medals on a variety of events rather than one or two.

But I am a patriot and I don't go for self loathing. It doesn't have to be this way and we can do better, it's just the will to do it (which we proved before when we had the will - see Vancouver 2010).

Discourage all victim or loser mentality, it helps nothing. Encourage all children to be active and target every school age child to be doing something physical which encourages better physical and mental health.

There should be nationwide databases for phys ed teachers to enter results on every child, how fast they run, swim, cycle, how well they play chess. We measure educational advancement periodically with standardized testing, why not physical fitness.

As for this so called poor sportsmanship, I'm not buying it, especially when it's within the purview of one of the greatest grift organizations (IOC) the world has seen (aside from FIFA). I've seen it come from a few self loathers, but more American trolls.

Frankly, losing to the US and the 51 state BS should be a call to arms, and the insult that made a man out of Mac (if you know you know)

I was a little disappointed in general, but the hockey part was definitely more than that.

I wouldn't be too hung up on our medal count.

Sometimes I feel like the winter Olympics exist so that some tiny European countries can still put up numbers.

Norway won 28 medals in events that, in some way, involved cross country skiing, either in XC skiing itself, nordic combined or biathlon. There were 26 events in these 3 areas alone in 2026; in 1988 the Calgary Olympics had 44 events total.

The Dutch won 20 medals, all of them in some variation of speed skating.

If Canada were a Western European country, then we'd probably have figured out a way to lobby the IOC over the years to include every niche variation of hockey that's ever been played: shinny, spongee, ringette, broomball, etc.

There was a time when sports participation was encouraged and many kids were encouraged to participate in a wide variety of sports. However, there's less of a drive due to the affordability crisis and the changing demographics in many regions. We cannot ignore the elephant in the room which is immigration from countries that do not prioritize physical activity. Sports are not a priority from newcomer parents. Hell, women from some cultures are forbidden from participating in extra-curricular activities.

A bit disappointed with our performance at these games, Canada should be a top 5 country in the Winter Olympics. Calgary should host another games, our infrastructure from '88 is almost gone and it shows in our results, especially in sliding sports.

This is a very good point. Two medal contests for Ice Hockey, but 26 for cross-country skiing? The winter Olympics are extremely euro-centric.

Canada did fine.

We send 28% of our athletes to compete for 5 medals. They got:

1 G, 2 S, 1B. Which is a pretty respectable result considering any country can only win 1 medal in each of the medal events.

Unless we develop Cross-Country and Alpine Skiing athletes we won't be a top-5 country at the winter olympics. 30 to 40% of all medals are in those two disciplines and countries can win multiples in them.

Please. In the NHL Olympic era, Canada has 3 golds and the US has 1 and the US didn't exactly destroy Canada for that gold. In the women's, we go back and forth. In 2022 without NHL, we both got knocked out in the quarter finals, and in 2018 without NHLers, we got bronze and US was knocked out on the quarter finals.

Let's not declare an end to Canadian hockey because a couple guys couldn't make the play on the open net.

This.

Add in that there are six decent countries playing men's hockey now and given the one game format, you can lose to a goaltender any given night.
