Looks like you were flying more over Miramichi than Moncton SHH.

Currently -3C and partly cloudy in Moncton at noontime, getting up to 0C this afternoon.

The nor'easter starts tomorrow about noontime, and ends the following morning. Still calling for 15-25 cm of snow and wind gusts of 60-80 km/hr.



The track of this storm is pretty typical for a nor'easter, hence why NB is not going to escape it this time. Most other nor'easters this year have been further off shore due to the polar vortex flooding eastern North America.


They have full on blizzard warning for Boston and southern New England. Still calling for 60 cm of snow down there and winds of 80-90 km/hr,

I'll give the St. John's weather for SHH's benefit. The remnants of the last nor'easter are still persisting over the Avalon today. Another 15 cm expected, with winds of 80-100 km/hr. When the next nor'easter arrives (on Tuesday for them), it sounds like they will be on the warm side with an eventual transition to rain (high +6C).

It's been a crappy grey/blah weekend. Long range isn't promising either. Snowstorm Thursday and the following week is showing temperatures well below normal.

Yeah, I was wondering what that was, I was seeing those lights as being in water like a curvy bridge of somekind in the photo and saying there is no water there.

Local social media in St. John's is filling up with anger a state of emergency hasn't been declared. And there are also some people trapped asking for help. It is drifts, not just universal snow depth, but the drifts are still many times longer than the height they're reaching.

The storm warning advising of heavy winds didn't give them a clue?

We've now had two weeks of above freezing weather, the snow melted and up until yesterday, the two week forecast had no more cold weather. Everything has now changed. It snowed a bit today and there is more snow in the forecast, possibly 10cm on Thursday. And now there are four or five below freezing days in the forecast as well. Oh well, two more weeks of winter.

This is truly the winter from hell.

Low of -11C (wind chill -18) this morning under bright blue skies.

Warmspot was Esquimalt Harbour, BC at 13.4C.

Warmest low was Victoria (Harbour), BC at 7.9C.

Finally more people are coming to that conclusion. I was accused of exaggerating when I mentioned the winter from hell maybe a month ago. Keep in mind Southern Ontario has had it a bit easier than us relative to averages.

-5C and mostly cloudy in Moncton at 9 AM.

The next 24 hours will not be pleasant. A yellow level winter storm warning has been issued. Snow will start about 1 PM and continue for the rest of the day and overnight. About 20-30 cm expected, with winds gusting to 60 km/hr.

Portions of the south shore of NS have an orange level alert. Up to 50 cm of snow in places with winds of 80-100 km/hr. In addition, there will be risks of coastal flooding.

This will be the biggest storm of the season in Moncton. It took until the end of February to get here.

Super cold, but there is a big warm up coming! then a big dump of snow late this week, so the ski hills should be prime this weekend.
