Actually, ATXFC paid a $150 million expansion fee. The fee was part of an agreement to begin play early (in 2021).

What do you mean “early”? Austin started on the timeline that was always planned (despite the pandemic).

“Precourt, who will not pay a fee”

There is just a lack of will amongst the leadership of this city. Like someone else said, if we had local government officials actively pursuing teams like you have in most cities we'd at least have one more major team in addition to Austin FC.

The city easily could have partnered with UT and Oak View who built Moody Center, and together built an NBA/NHL caliber arena.
You're using coded language to hide the fact that the impact you are talking about is possible when city officials promise to use tax payer money on stadiums. That's not happening in Travis County, nor should it. The right site with enough space can support a private development which includes a stadium.

It was pretty good. Prime streamed it, and an AppleTV subscription wasn't needed.

They are a competitive side. However, not a sexy brand. I will be interested if a Saudi RE company decides to invest in any future development opportunities in the area.
