Speaking of which, I did a tour of the new St Francis school.
It's very beautiful inside and out (outside maybe could use some more colour) with a very modern approach to elementary school: think more of a campus style and with no corners, all rounded rooms and lots of intentionality and nod to indigenous elements...also the only cree speaking school in North America! I'll post some photos of my tour when I get a chance.

Expanding on this, I’m wondering why some mining companies have their head office in other provinces with essentially a satellite office in Saskatoon, when their only project is in Saskatchewan. Companies like NexGen, Foran, CEM and Denison Mines are operated out of Vancouver, Calgary and Toronto. Why is there no interest to have all of the operations in Saskatoon? Is it because of image to investors or ability to attract white collar workers?

It’d be great to have all of these companies fully headquartered in Saskatoon and really establish the mining industry. Companies like Nutrien and BHP with head offices in Saskatoon have contributed a lot to the city in many ways (directly and indirectly) so I imagine it’d only be a good thing to have more companies with massive revenues and high employee counts here.

Those are junior firms without any significant operations yet. They will be located where they currently do business (legal work and fund raising), not in SK.

Appreciate the insight zeebra! I’ve seen some of the names/logos pop up in many places, they must seem to me that they’re more significant than they actually are.

As for the junior mining companies I posted max power, gensource potash, Can Alaska uranium, Star diamonds, and Upcycle minerals I specifically chose those companies because they are all headquartered in Saskatoon. Now I can’t speak for all the companies but I have a friend who works for a engineering company in Saskatoon that is currently doing the engineering for Upcycle minerals and as we speak she said all the services including engineering, drilling, legal, accounting is all local Saskatoon companies that Upcycle has hired! She also said Upcycle minerals has a legit chance of actually building a plant and becoming a major player in the SOP fertilizer industry because they have a new technology process that makes them different than everyone in the industry. Let’s hope some of these companies become majors one day and make a impact no only on the city and province

Foran just got taken out by Eldorado Gold, so that one ain't happening. NexGen will eventually be acquired too.

I had posted this in the Canada forum regarding Saskatoon CMA's current Statistics Canada population estimates versus the 2021 census figures. Even accounting for the shaky figures of the COVID-era census, this shows a really robust population growth basically all over the CMA, with only a couple exceptions.

I hesitated in cross posting it as I saw I had already missed the boat on the population estimates talk, but Wigs encouraged me to cross-post it, so here it is:

I am surprised that Delisle lost people. I would have thought that twinning highway 7 to it would have been a catalyst for at least a little bit of a gain. Perhaps, its time still comes.

I know the school is a contentious issue between Warman and Martensville, but has there ever been talk of a full fledged hospital between the two? The metro could certainly use more hospital beds one way or another!

Westlcliff has certainly been busy! I wonder if (or when) they venture to the otherside of the river.

I'm also surprised. I wonder why developers like North Ridge, who has developments in Dalmeny and Martensville for example, has yet to scoop up some land in Vanscoy and Delisle and plan some new neighbourhoods out that way?

Both communities saw small subdivisons added on in the last boom between 2006 - 2013, but nothing this time around. Just crickets. Delisle is a bit of a commute, but Vanscoy is about the same distance to downtown as Warman.

As for Westcliff, I live in City Park and I know Saskatoon Land is currently going through the process to rezone the former Food Bank gardens -- the block on 3rd between Duchess & Duke -- as Corridor Residential with the plans to sell off to a developer as 3rd ave is going to be widened to the north soon. Perfect spot for a Westcliff-scale development (hint-hint to any Westcliffers reading this )

Have to say that while I'm not blown away by their designs, it's nice to see a developer as unabashedly bullish on Saskatoon's growth as Westcliff is. Hopefully they don't get overextended

This could be a good location for a small grocery store. With all the new family-owned ethnic stores popping up, maybe someone will take advantage of that location to set up shop there!

It says fully furnished suites. Reminds me of a similar building near the University of Alberta. Prices were quite inflated, more catering for international students with deep pockets. Guess we will see where these land on pricing.
