Well it started with a record breaking snowfall in early November when trees still had leaves. November certainly should not be winter.

It's been frigid ever since with only of short exceptions. It certainly feel like the Polar Vortex has never left this winter hence my comment. It would easier to digest a brutal cold wave if it was a one off during winter.

Speaking of frigid temperatures, Cuba recorded it's coldest temperature in history at 0.0C the other day.

Maybe we can convince Trump that Cuba is Greenland and he can invade them instead.

I've been trying to figure out where exactly "Agtech" is. After several queries with AI I figure it's got to be near Lethbridge, Alberta.

================

Environment Canada is listing Agtech, Alberta as the hot spot in Canada right now at 19.6 Celsius. Where is that?

Agtech, AB is a weather station located approximately 7 km southwest of Lethbridge, Alberta.
It is officially designated as LETHBRIDGE AGTECH AGCM, situated at coordinates 49.65° N latitude and -112.76° W longitude.

This station is part of the Alberta Climate Information Service (ACIS) network and frequently appears in Environment Canada's
"hot spot" summaries during chinook events or unseasonably warm weather in Southern Alberta.

Location Details
Proximity: Roughly 7 km from Lethbridge.
Nearby Landmarks: It is close to the Lethbridge Airport (6 km away) and the Lethbridge AAFC (Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada) research station (5 km away).
Function: The station serves as a critical data point for agricultural research and regional weather monitoring in the heart of Alberta's "AgTech" corridor.

The Polar Vortex is an exceptional circumstance, it typically means brutal cold, not -10. And winter is supposed to be cold, if you want warmth, you live in the wrong country.

Is Agtech a place? I can't find it on google... Lethbridge is 19 currently, so that's crazy! 14 in Calgary and quite overcast, there is a strong Chinook Arch to the west though, so will make for a pretty sunset at least.

I know what a polar vortex is. My comment was a reference to how cold we've been pretty much non-stop for the past 3 months relative to normal, with a sarcastic hint lol

Anyway! You guys need to share some degrees with the poor folks out East.

^ I haven't seen any cherry blossoms yet.

It was a nice day, though. High of 15C downtown.

Third from bottom is still one of my fave buildings of that style. It's up there with Miami's art deco to me, despite the objectively simple form. The ornamentation is just exceptional.

That one is a mid century modern building with a mural added, but it does stand out well:

Quote:
Location: 1770 Davie Street (corner of Davie and Denman), West End, Vancouver.
Artist: Renowned Canadian artist and author Douglas Coupland.
Mural Title: "Sunset Beach Love Letter".
Design: A vibrant, geometric, and colourful pattern that covers all four sides of the 16-storey residential tower.
Context: The building is a 1958-built, mid-century modern residential tower.

The official high at YVR was about 12C today, of course it can be warmer elsewhere. I'll just add another blue sky Vancouver picture from today here.

Good job, Alberta! Can’t shake your head at 21!

As for BC, we topped out at 19.5 in Bella Bella (central coast)

South Coast ranged from 12 to 18, with most places around 14.

Not bad at all!

-5C with a wind chill of -11 and a mix of sun and clouds. Right on average.

Low of -10C (wind chill of -16) this morning.

The warmspot was Barnwell, AB at 21.0C. I think 3-4 other stations hit 20C today. Incredible day out West but especially Alberta.

Warmest low was Herbert Island, BC at 11.2C. Could actually be the highest low this year if it holds.

Only because, as the expression goes - you asked for it!

Photos from Victoria. Ironically View street where these were taken is more famous (infamous) for the one true commie block in the city.

That's Sunset Towers on Barclay (b. 1975), a BC housing building.
