for a city that has doubled in size in 30 years, the way things are going, this city continues to defy everything when compared to other regions and not in a good way obviously.
Don't be surprised to see businesses leave south.

One month into 2026 and the hot debate in Edmonton is a proposal for yet another surface parking lot in the middle of downtown. This place has lost the plot.
If YEG were to lose AMS due to increased YYC capacity to AMS, would that really be considered a wash?
The setup of Alberta’s major cities is not a:
– Victoria/Vancouver relationship
– Ottawa/Toronto relationship
– Quebec City/Montreal relationship
where one city vastly outsizes the other. In those cases, that kind of rhetoric makes sense where one city is the obvious provincial hub, while the other is relatively much smaller.
Edmonton and Calgary are nearly the same size. That logic doesn’t apply here.
