The airport flight path restricted zone starts near the Walter Scott statue (extends to just south of 23rd Ave) so they got as close at they could in that video.

The weather will finally be good enough to get out this week. I saw a video about flying in -20 and below which indicated that below 50% capacity there's a chance the battery might just suddenly cut out if the voltage gets too low.

You got to be careful , it’s always nice when people appreciate the city they live in instead of trashing it good people are hard to find, but just bins people are everywhere. Thank you for being a good human being.

While much of Saskatchewan endures punishing cold, one place in Regina offers a sharp and almost surreal contrast: humid air, green leaves, and temperatures that feel closer to summer than winter.

Inside the Regina Floral Conservatory, the temperature sits around 27 C, making it one of the warmest places in the province during the deep freeze.

Saskatoon brewery moves to Regina to shack up with District Brewing

A Saskatoon brewery is moving its operations to the Queen City to join forces with another provincial brewer.

On Tuesday, Paddock Wood Brewing Co. in Saskatoon — which has produced beer in the province for two decades — announced it would be moving to Regina to partner with District Brewing Company, transferring all production from Paddock’s Saskatoon brewery to District’s facilities
Transitioning production will lead to the brewery reducing costs while maintaining production quality and benefiting from using the advanced technology at District Brewing’s facility.

In an interview with 650 CKOM, Yaremko said he’s excited about the opportunity to use District’s state-of-the-art facilities, which include better filtration processes for their products.

“The outcome from that is an even better quality product than what we’re producing today,” Yaremko said.

It also brings the opportunity for Paddock Wood to pasteurize its products, which improves shelf life for some beer beverages.

Hayden McPherson, marketing coordinator for District Brewing, said the biggest benefit of the partnership is getting to continue seeing Paddock Wood products on the shelf.

“Obviously, the alternative would be closing the doors and saying goodbye to Saskatchewan’s oldest running and most legacy craft brewery,” MacPherson said.

Yaremko said the partnership is a chance to consider the environmental impact and carbon footprint of the two breweries, with sharing distribution.

“They’re on a path to trying to get to carbon neutral and they’ve got the technology in place to take them a long way down that road,” Yaremko said, calling it “super exciting.”

MacPherson echoed the pride District takes in its green initiatives and prioritizing sustainability within their business.

Yarkemko said there was an opportunity to have another tenant move into their existing space and take over the facility to use it for packaging spirit-based products for sale in Saskatchewan. This paired well with the potential for Paddock Wood to partner with District Brewing.
This is quite unfortunate for Saskatoon. It’s never good to see any businesses leave the beautiful city.

Regina housing starts jump nearly 40% in 2025 as policy changes speed development

REGINA — New housing development in Regina continues to increase year-over-year.

Stats from the Canada Mortgage Housing Corporation (CMHC) reported the city saw 1,687 housing starts in 2025, up from 1,223 in 2024. This represents a near 40 per cent increase year-over-year.

Stu Niebergall, president and CEO of the Regina and Region Home Builders' Association, said the city changing it's public policy decision has played a role in the uptick.

“That was about changing zoning bylaws, about fast-tracking permits. And we were fortunate here in Regina that leading up to the housing accelerator fund (HAF) the city decided to work on changing those bylaws.”

Saskatoon bucks trend as downtown office vacancy rate rises to 19 per cent

Vacancy rate in Saskatoon increased as it declined nationally and in Regina
Saskatoon’s downtown office vacancy rate climbed last year to one of the highest in Canada, defying a national trend and reversing direction from the year before.

Vacant office space downtown jumped to 19.4 per cent in the last quarter of 2025, up from 16.4 per cent in the same quarter the year earlier. That ended a general downward trend since downtown vacancy peaked at 24.2 per cent in 2021, the second year of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Tale of two cities

Regina’s downtown office vacancy dropped to 12.5 per cent last year from 15 per cent at the same time in 2024, while its suburban office vacancy soared to 10.1 per cent from 7.6 per cent.

While nearly three-quarters of Regina’s office space is located downtown, Saskatoon is split fairly evenly with slightly more than half of its office space located outside downtown. Saskatoon also boasts 1.4 million sq. ft. more office space than Regina.

Planning for Growth Around Regina International Airport
The City and Regina Airport Authority have a plan to balance development in west Regina with space to expand the airport to support long-term future growth.
In 2025, the City updated zoning bylaws and policies to guide where new construction and land development may occur in proximity to the airport. These updates also include enhanced construction methods for reducing noise and will apply to renovation projects, new home and commercial projects in neighbourhoods surrounding the airport, including parts of Harbour Landing, Lakeview, Albert Park and Westerra.
Zoning changes that may impact construction and development include the following:
New residential development will not be allowed on vacant land surrounding the airport in Area 1 because new neighbourhoods will not be allowed within 1,000 meters of runways. The land will be reserved for commercial or industrial development.

“The city will be collaborating with them and the R.M. on the alignment and right of way needs and engagement will acknowledge traditional territory and authority and commit to a respectful dialogue.”

He said there is a reserved right-of-way adjacent to the conservation park for the road itself, but couldn’t speculate on the exact route, or what the impacts on the conservation park might be until the study is complete.

It seems to me that one of the goals here is to service the George Gordon FN development. That land is not even in the City limits. I smell Federal grants, which invariably result in bad decisions.

Construction of 1st building in new campus will be expedited in 2026, according to documents

The documents filed with the RM of Sherwood propose rezoning a parcel of land measuring approximately 160 acres (65 hectares).

The rezoning would allow for the construction of a planned artificial intelligence data centre, rather than an agricultural use.
